Default Rep. Dennis Kucinich introduces 35 Articles of Impeachment against President Bush

US congressman moves to impeach Bush

    Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Former Democratic presidential contender, Dennis Kucinich, has called for the impeachment of George W Bush claiming that the president set out to deceive the nation, and violated his oath of office with the Iraq war.

The Ohio representative yesterday introduced 35 articles of impeachment against Bush on the floor of the US House of Representatives.
Kucinich unveiled a list of alleged illegal and improper acts by Bush, including war crimes.

He accused Bush executing a "calculated and wide-ranging strategy" to deceive citizens and Congress into believing that Iraq posed an imminent threat to the United States.

He went on to say that Bush and Cheney lied to Congress and the American public about the reasons for invading Iraq in 2003 and abused their offices in order to conduct the "War on Terror" following the 9/11 attacks.

"Bush misled the American people and members of Congress to believe Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction so as to manufacture a false case for war. President George W. Bush, by such conduct, is guilty of an impeachable offense warranting removal from office," Kucinich said.

He has already introduced a similar impeachment resolution against Vice President Cheney.
Bob Fertik, President of Democrats.com, said: "We've waited seven years to find one Member of Congress brave enough to stand up for our Constitution, for which generations of Americans have fought and died.
"We are thrilled and honored that Dennis Kucinich has chosen to be that one genuine patriot.

"We congratulate him on his historic leadership, and pledge to do everything in our power to persuade Congress to adopt all 35 Articles and put George W Bush on trial before the Senate of the United States, exactly as the Founding Fathers wanted."
Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated that there will be no consideration of impeachment proceedings against Bush and said the idea was "off the table."

Awesome. Not that I think anything will come of it, but still, that's quite a list.

Didn't he do this a year or so ago?

The Dems aren't going to impeach Bush now. They didn't then. They SHOULD, but they won't.

Another Rep had introduced in Jan 2007, without support, Dennis introduced articles of impeachment for Cheney, which also went nowhere. Not a good track record, but at least he's still trying. The media hasn't barely reported shit, and I doubt they'd nail down McSame to get his opinion on whether he agrees or not.

    Never. Gonna. Happen.

In fact, if Dems insist on going this route, it will only hurt Obama in the end. Dime to donuts you'll see Obama distance himself from this circus.

i love kucinich. he was my first choice for democratic candidate, but i knew he didn't have a chance.

i also don't think anything will come of it, and i agree that it might even hurt the democrats because the media will start to cry that they're being 'divisive' or some such nonsense... still, i'm glad he's doing it, just for the principle.

An interesting article was published on this topic last year, by the liberal writer Michael Tomasky titled 'The Dumbest Thing The Dems Can Do'

His point was that impeachment would turn Bush into a sympathetic figure, and probably cost the dems the whitehouse

The evidence is all out there, much of it is direct admissions from the government itself, such as that bi-partisan decision last week that BUSH LIED and still they won't do anything. Kucinich must be the only non-Reptilian in the House.

i <3 dennis kucinich. it is too bad more people didn't vote for him. it's odd how people complain that they want change, but then don't vote for candidates who have the guts to do stuff like this.

Sorry but I watched as my government wasted too much of my money trying to impeach Clinton. Thanks to Bush - we have no money left to hire people to impeach him. It is almost over. Just let the asshole be.

Impeaching would save money. People will get their heads around the fact that the war was a lie, an impeachment can't possibly cost several billion dollars a month.

Didn't the folks in Brattleboro Vt. put out an arrest warrant for Bush/Cheney? Now these people have the right idea. I don't think it can be acted on until they are out of office and only if they enter the town limits. We need to get some larger cities in on this.

I can't see Bush or Blair ever being held accountable, not in the current climate. Ultimately it will be history that judges them.
