I think it's funny that people think it's OK for a woman to marry a much older man but if the roles were reversed -- not so much. If she was 33 and he was 42, no big diff. But 23 and 42 almost ensures that she will outgrow him and move on. There are exceptions, but the stats on women marrying men 10 or more years their senior aren't comforting.

    ^^Exactly.

Celine Dion married a man that much older, but she has a career that has spaned to eternity. Not many people have that.

she'll outgrow him quick, once she gets over her daddy complex and sees the reality of what a future w/ someone so much older will hold.

It's not a stretch to conceive. But it is a stretch to believe. Everybody say it together: "Love me daddy!"

I've dated some much older men and I wasn't trying to fill some missing void in my life, or some rubbish.
I just happen to prefer men, older. But I certainly don't want a daddy figure. Yikes no.

I thought she said she went to some COS meetings with someone she had dated but that she was not a member and didn't go anymore?

My parents were 8 years apart and my husband's parents were 12 years apart. My parents marriage lasted 26 years, my husband's parents are still together after 33. *shrug* its a small test pool to be sure, but older men and younger women can work.

I think the cutoff is 15. That's where the difference in age is just a bit too much to bridge in most cases.

I don't know...Charlie Chaplin and his last wife...Oona I think it was? They seemed very happy. But then, so do Woody Allin and Soon-yi and that just makes my stomach turn.

Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart, they had a fair chunk of an age gap too. It's not the norm, but it can work for some. For most it probably won't work, you are right Mira.

That could be it, but for some reason I thought she'd been dating this guy for a few years.
