    Default Oscars best dressed

Kate Hudson at the 2003 Oscars
Kate Hudson chose this stunning Versace gown for the 2003 Oscars. She makes our top ten for getting every element right, from the glowing make-up, to the vintage style gems and soft up-do. Simply gorgeous.

Penelope Cruz at the 2007 Oscars
Penelope may have missed out on the best actress award at the 2007 Oscar's, but she won in the style stakes. In a blush Versace gown with feathered sweeping train, she glittered in Chopard diamonds and a Swarovski clutch.

Julia Roberts at the 2001 Oscars
Julia Roberts walked away with the best actress Oscar in 2001 for her role in Erin Brockovich, and also took the accolade for most stylish performance of the night, wearing a vintage Valentino monochrome gown.

Jessica Alba at the 2006 Oscars
Jessica Alba showed off her enviable figure in this glittering gold Versace dress at the 2006 Academy Awards. The flash of bare back and slinky halterneck shape make it sophisticated, yet sexy choice.

Kate Winslet at the 2002 Oscars
Kate Winslet put Ben de Lisi on the fashion map, when she chose a stunning red dress from his collection for the 2002 Oscars.

Kate Hudson would have looked wonderful except for the damn peace sign she threw up.

    Click on ze link:

Michelle Williams - disagree with that one, looks like yellow throw-up on her.

Charlize Theron, Sienna Miller, Cate Blanchett, and JLo's toga number (which, frankly, looks pretty awful IMO).

    They left out this one:

One of my faves: Helen Mirren at the 2007 Oscars.

This? Really? I actually like Sienna Miller and her style, but this, um, ensemble doesn't work, imo. Too many (garish) accessories, shitty hairdo, and the dress itself is just meh. And I agree, that JLo dress is hideous. Is this list just the "best" dresses since the year 2000?

and i totally disagree with that list. only marie claire, in style and people could come up with a list celebrating the most generic red carpet fashions of recent years.

the only ones i agree with are michelle williams and her dark red lips and tangerine vera wang and cate blanchett's valentino.

i'm sure i'm forgetting a lot of amazing dresses but my point is, this list is whack!
my list would go something like this:

cate blanchett's galliano with the birds on the back:

cate blanchett's black gaultier dress with the plunging back and indian gold necklace at the 2000 oscars (can you tell i loved this one):

cate blanchett's armani privé gown from 2007:

uma thurman in versace in 2006:

chloë sevigny's alber elbaz lanvin gown at the 2000 oscars

gwyneth paltrow in zac posen in 2007:

anne hathaway in marchesa in 2008:

    and marion cotillard's scalloped gaultier:

nicole kidman in galliano for dior in 1997:

and nicole kidman, again in dior, at the 2000 oscars. look at the back of that dress!

marisa tomei's versace at this year's awards was a work of art:

and i'll get trashed for this but i adored tilda swinton's alber elbaz for lanvin:

not oscars, but cate blanchett's lavender 1930s style gaultier that she wore to the golden globes is one of my all-time favourite dresses:

While it wasn't particularly an out of this world dress, she looked f*cking amazing in it

Where are Cher and JLo in the 'worst' section? They've worn some of the most Gawdawful shit on the red carpet ever.

Well of all the gowns shown, I like Halle Berry's the best.

Of course I know there were far more beautiful gowns throughout the years.
