Biography

Lisa Maffia (born 16 June 1979 in South London) originally came to the public's attention as the main female member of So Solid Crew. Whilst in So Solid, the singer notched up 5 top 20 hits, including a platinum selling single 21 Seconds and a platinum selling album They Dont Know. She was born to an Italian mother and a black father.

Her own first solo album, First Lady was released in August 2003, and won a MOBO award in the Best UK garage Act category. Lisa was also nominated for 2 other MOBO awards Best UK Act and Best UK Newcomer Lisa is trained in Latino ballroom, tap and modern dancing and practised gymnastics as a child. In March 2005 Lisa won the silver medal in series three of The Games.

Debut single All Over and second single In Love became two of the best selling singles of 2003. In her time since recording her debut album she has set up her own record label "Maffia Recordz", to which she has signed acts such as Northstar Ent, Flirta D, Romeo and Youngstarz.In May 2007, Lisa Maffia announced on her official Myspace that she has been recording her upcoming album at the Murlyn Studios, known to have penned songs for Christina Milian, Madonna, Kylie Minogue and others.She will also release the funky house tune Bad Girl (At Night) on 10th September 2007

Lisa has said in many interviews recently that she will be launching her first official Calendar later on this year. She has quoted that the calendar is set around many different settings including in studio and ibiza, and has been working with up and coming photographers.

Also her record label Maffia Recordz up and running, shes signed rappers Young Spray, Chyna and C-One as part of a group called North Star. They have releaesd such tracks as On A Rise, Love Like This, Our Time and Rollin wit da nines. She has also signed underground grime emcee Flirta D.
