Precisely!! All this constant "Is {so and so} gay?" stuff just makes me laugh - in this day and age, do we really care?
Reminds me of a comment my defamation law professor posed to the class a few years back... in the 21st century, is calling someone "gay" defamatory? Defamation is measured by whether the matter published to another person (and "publish" can mean any form of publication, speaking to someone about gossip is technically publication) would
lower the defamed person's esteem in the eyes of 'right thinking' members of society (or something... has been 3 years since I did Torts law!) Would that be the case today?
I definitely remember some star, but have no idea who off the top of my head, a few years ago laughing off gay rumours by saying "and anyway - that's a compliment!" Best attitude to take in my book.
I seriously doubt whether Johnny Depp is gay (possibly bi, but not gay). Clooney I can buy, same with Cruise although I'd be a bit dubious about Travolta (but would be willing to admit I'm wrong if it is such a famously open secret in the industry). Orlando Bloom and Jake Gyllenhall strike me as "pretty boys" but not gay necessarily. Hayden Christenson I'm not so sure about... but also don't think there's enough proof to conclusive say he is either. I don't think Elijah Wood is gay, but he is very open and "huggy", which gives straight laced people that impression. Hugh Jackman is not gay, honestly can't people differentiate between the roles he plays on Broadway or film and his own private life??? (BTW - what porn films? Hadn't heard of those before)
There were a lot of reasons on that list on page 2 of this board that just made me laugh... Nick Lachey is gay because he was in a boy band??? Pfft!!
Overall, it's hilarious to look at how conservative society is today, in the world of blatant sex and open alternative sexuality.
