Simply put? He's English, and he's pretty. To many people, that equals gay.

I've always thought he was bisexual, but I admit, I'm American and a shit load of English guys come off as gay to me because their culture is so different from mine. (I would have sworn Jude Law was gay as well because he's not far off from Orlando, in my opinion.) In America we're so used to the "macho man" image, I think, whenever an English pretty boy comes along that automatically screams gay to us. Gene Simmons once said that America's preconceived notion of the English man is a gay man -- I agree.

With that said, he could be gay as Ian McKellen, but I think he could just as well be straight. With the English, there isn't much of a difference when it comes to the two. It's not like here where a straight man has the image of some macho asshole in charge of women, and the gay man is the flaming queen who wears makeup, dancing around decorating houses. I've seen some flaming Brits, but not like here in America -- and quite frankly I think the big difference is that they don't give a shit, unlike Americans.

He's been on UK tv progs & he is actually a good actor, but I agree that the things that I've seen him in (from the US) don't really display that.

Thanks for that insight, Bite Me. I was probably a little too quick to judge. I'll admit I've never seen anything he's been in so maybe he'd grow on me. He's just one of those I take a look at and ask "what's the big deal?". An accent always helps though.
