That's the thing though, if these people think that there's nothing wrong with being gay, then why do they have to announce it to the world media that they are NOT gay? What difference does it make?

Does anyone else see my point? Certainly there's nothing wrong with being gay, if I was a celebrity and people started the gossip, then I'd just say, they can think what they want, my life is none of my business. It doesn't matter if I'm out in public with a guy or a girl, none of anyone's business.

Which goes to show that a lot of these celebrities DO think there's something about homosexuality which causes them to be WAY too defensive, for guy actors they must think that it would affect their marketability worldwide where there may be bias against such, sad to say.

^ITA. I don't think there is anything wrong with being gay/lesbian however, I am not and would want the record set straight if it were rumored (persistantly) for years.

That's the thing though, not trying to beat a dead horse and not trying to offend anyone, but what is there to be 'misled' about? Why the need to set the record straight?

The basic question is, what is so wrong or bad about being even considered gay that celebrities feel the need to have a press conference to tell everyone that they are not? If I was a celebrity, and people started the rumor mill, I would be like, so what? If they think I'm gay, so be it. Do known gay celebrities, if seen in the constant company of the opposite sex and in potentially intimate situations, have the need to set the record straight to the world media that they are NOT straight?

The only possible situation I can see where famous straight people might feel some pressure to loudly proclaim their straightness is if they live and work in an environment where there is extreme or subtle homophobic tendencies. Like professional sports for example. Of course I'm sure they'd tack on the 'oh, but there's nothing wrong with being gay' line at the end of it.

But I guess I'm the only one that sees through the hypocrisy of saying that there's nothing wrong with being gay yet calling a press conference to announce that you are not. Oh well, life goes on.

Well I think Oprah is lying. I believe she is a BISEXUAL. This is the SECOND TIME she has announced she is not gay. Why did she FEEL the need to ANNOUNCE it a second time. She needs to get real. Why didn't she just ignore the rumours? She seems gay to me though. She and Gayle are definitely lovers.

Oprah and Gayle must be feeling the pressure. But to do this a SECOND time to announce she's not a lesbian doesn't seem right. I think Oprah knows the public realizes her relationship with Stedman is a sham. Stedman had a child with another woman when he was with Oprah. I think they have an agreement of sorts some kind of contract where in public he appears as Oprah's man. And Gayle is Oprah's secret lesbian lover. It isn't just because Oprah spends so much time with Gayle its because Oprah you see the love and passion in her eyes that she has for Gayle. And when I see Oprah with Stedman he just looks like a male friend.

I just think something is weird. As alot of people have pointed out already, she had to announce publicly that shes NOT gay. Why bother, if you're not, who cares. Worse rumours could go around about you. Someone who gets defensive either sees something wrong with being gay, or IS secretly in the closet.

Honestly, for me personally, the only rumours I care about are the true ones. Someone could say that I was gay, on drugs, anorexic, psycho, any of that, and it wouldn't bother me. Its that old saying, the TRUTH is what hurts!

Maybe there's a lesbian streak in her somewhere. Meh, who knows.
Although I do find it funny that this partner is named Gayle. It's an anagram of 'Le Gay'.
