Which to me, always means they are, because I dont see why they get THAT upset about it.
|
That didn't happen. In 2003 Ian McKellen made a joke about going to an award ceremony just to kiss Orlando and some gossip rag said Orlando was outraged, exclaiming "I'm not gay! I've got a girlfriend!" But it turned out to be false; a quote completely twisted by the gossip rags. (What a shocker! A tabloid twisting quotes and making up actions? ) Shortly after Ian McKellen made a post on his website explaining what really happened. Later on Orlando was asked about it as well, and he had this to say: "...It suggested I was very much a straight man and very... belligerently homophobic or something. I don't know. It was just so [wrong]." He also goes on and on about how Ian is like a father figure to him etc.
I agree with you that anybody that gets "upset" over being called gay should be questioned because it's nothing to get upset over—it's not an insult or anything of the like. The only reason someone would be upset over something like that is if it's true.
I can't think of anyone else that hasn't already been named. Hugh Jackman comes to mind, but I really don't think Hugh is gay b/c of the simple fact that he has been quoted saying he 'doesn't mind the gay rumors at all because [he] thinks they're complimentary.' I think any truly closeted gay man would run for the hills when it comes to someone calling them out. I have known so many closeted men and none of them would openly say something like that....
I also don't think Elijah Wood is gay because Ian McKellen said he wasn't on his official website; I thought he might be but when Ian "defended" him I thought otherwise. Ian spent a lot of time filming with all those guys and I think he must have gotten a pretty good idea of what each actor is like. I couldn't see Ian "covering" for an actor in Hollywood he knew to be gay. He's such an activist for gay rights—that just doesn't seem him at all. It would be somewhat hypocritical, actually.
I know my post is basically saying who I don't think is gay, but when everyone under the sun has been mentioned in 11 pages, it's hard to think of someone to add. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if anyone was gay because gay men and women are everywhere, so why wouldn't they be in Hollywood?

I'm not surprised that the tabloids twisted the Ian McKellan comment.
And i have to agree that Hugh Jackman isn't gay. Like Johnny Depp deals with gay rumours by laughing and saying its a good thing, so does Hugh. Its interesting that you said you know closeted homosexuals who would never say anything like that because thats what I have always thought. I am suspicious of the men who get ANGRY about gay rumours, because its seriously no big deal, and if you're entirely not gay, and have nothing to hide, it should matter even less.
If someone said I was a lesbian, i'd laugh my head off, because I know how untrue that is for me. But I once had these 2 male friends- one was openly gay, the other closeted. And the openly gay friend kept saying to me, 'hes gay, he's gay', and he used to get mad and upset and he hated my gay friend. He even dated girls to make people think he was straight. And now, surprise, surprise, he's come out as gay. And he's alot happier. But the gay accusation really riled him up before he decided to come out of the closet.

Exactly. I know what I am and if someone thought I was a lesbian I would have absolutely no problem with it. It's not insulting; if someone thinks I'm a lesbian it doesn't affect my life in any way because more likely than not that person isn't a major part of my life anyway... So really, what's the point of getting angry over it? I've always found that odd and suspicious when people do that.
My best, best friend is gay and I've known him since "before" he was gay, so I went through a lot of hard times with him. He was constantly teased, I constantly defended him because I felt so horrible seeing how hurt he was because of these rumors; he was really hurt by them to the point where he'd cry because people thought he was gay. He would also share intimate details about his private life for no real reason which also made me wonder what he was trying to prove. When he finally did come out, years later, it all fell into place and I realized he was upset over these rumors because they were true and he didn't want to admit it.
I've known quite a few other closeted men and they acted the same way. They were always very uncomfortable with homosexuals, and any conversation that had to do with them they'd shy away from. If someone ever questioned them they'd become hurt or angry. I think it all has to do with inner conflicts with knowing who you are inside but not wanting to come out because it's "socially unacceptable." I always found that so, so sad. It's the main reason why I just don't think we should question anyone. If someone's gay, they're gay. I hate that people feel they have to be "in the closet" but some people are so damn cruel about it that I think rude comments really just makes them go further into the closet. If nobody cared, nobody isolated them as a group, I don't think half as many men/women would be in the closet.
And when it comes to Hugh/Johnny's comments about the rumors, I go by that more than anything. I go by the actors behavior to comments like that rather than their actual "mannerisms" or "appearance" because that can be so misleading. Especially in this day and age where we are a more accepting society (although we still have our problems, obviously). I don't care if someone wears pink or "looks" gay; I believe a lot of actors (like Hugh & Johnny) are just comfortable enough with themselves to not care about appearing gay, and I admire that and respect that. If an actor laughs off gay rumors I don't care how gay they seem, I appreciate that they aren't acting like it's a bad thing, and I leave them alone. I honestly thought Elijah Wood "seemed" rather gay and I've heard never-ending rumors about him being gay, but when Ian mentioned on his website how he believed Elijah was just part of a more accepting generation which is why he has no qualms with homosexuals, I fully agreed and respected that, so I don't question Elijah anymore. I also don't bother Orlando because he did seem truly hurt and offended by the twisted quote which made him seem like a homophobic asshole; I'm glad he was angry the gossip rags did that because that shows he's the opposite and that he indeed loves Ian.
Well that was my tired rant for the day. So easy to go on and on when you're sick and delusional.

You know, I've gotten that vibe about her but thought I might be the only one. I'm sure the others that I suspect have been mentioned already, but here they are:
pink (married, I know, but vibe still there)
alicia keys (maybe bi)
leelee sobieski (don't know why...probably wrong)
supreme court justice samuel alito (mark my words!!)
salma hayek (maybe just bi experimenting)
michelle rodriguez (although she's out isn't she?)
jude law (must be bi)
queen latifah (bi)
missy elliot
I've wondered about nicole kidman, naomi watts, and scarlett johannsen too, but not so sure about those. There are tons more that ping but can't recall them now.

I don't think Natalie is, I think that comes more from her not being a publicity whore who is in the media all the time with her "man." Kind of funny she's mentioned though because she briefly dated Jake Gyhlenhaal.
As for Michelle, I'm almost certain she is out. Either that or she's bi and she doesn't mind. I thought I saw her on tv commenting about how hot this other girl was and how she wanted to do her... She was drunk of course but....

I would put Leelee in the same category I put Natalie: Non-fame-whores-but-not-necessarily-gay, women. I don't get any "feeling" from her, but she certainly isn't talked about so one could assume her lack of male boyfriends is lesbian behavior.

I wasn't basing my feeling on publicity, or lack thereof, though...just vibes. Which means I could be horribly wrong of course.

I was just saying what it might be, or what I think it is. I certainly start thinking about whether or not someone is a lesbian if they go a long, long time without a boyfriend/girlfriend... So that's all I was saying.

gotcha I don't want to go around accusing chicks who are single for too long of being lesbians (not that that would be a bad thing anyway) Some people just ping and they (natalie and leelee) have kinda for me.

Probably from him drooling alcohol on himself; he looks pretty out of it.

How about TR Knight from Grey's Anatomy. I don't know if anyone has mentioned him. This guy seems so gay he sparkles.

Apparently, Settle is "roommates" with his Band of Brothers co-star Eion Bailey, whatever that means......
