Ryan's on MY A-list Ass, list.
Speaking of that, I'm going to add Matt Dillon. I thought his relationship with Cameron Diaz was geniune until that gossip dude Billy Masters said Cameron is a Hollywood beard; so I don't know what to think now. He's definitely considered a ladies man though and isn't married - and says he doesn't want to either.

I think we have to remember that A-list to the tabs is quite different from what we would consider A-list. The tabs will call anybody A-list if they sell a lot of magazines, have the paps crawling all over them 24-7, or if they make boatloads of money selling cheese ie Clay Aiken.
So if this story is even true, which I doubt considering the source, we'll all be having a big yawn this time next week.

No, there's more to this story. You can't just 'out' someone, especially not someone who is 'A-LIST'. Something ain't right here.

I've been giving this some thought.
Have you noticed that the people who don't make a big deal about 'coming out', but just live their lives, manage to do quite well for themselves in the entertainment industry? Jodi Foster, David Hyde Pierce, and Rick Mercer come to mind. All three of these people live openly with their partners [openly as in they don't yap about it, but everyone knows anyway] and all three are successful. And does anyone really care that they are gay? Um, no.
I think the mistake that gay entertainers make is trying to hide it and pretending to be straight. That's what gets people talking. And when someone goes to great lengths to appear straight, then they paint themselves into a corner, and they can't say anything because they'll look incredibly stupid ... and I think we all know who I'm talking about here. *cough*

^^Absolutely. They paint themselves into a corner of 'damned if you do (come out) and damned if you don't.' They look like hypocrites and liars if they have tried to live straight before coming out, expecially if they have cultivated a 'ladies man' rep, but they look like ridiculous fools parading around town with their beards when everybody suspects they're gay.

^^My point above still stands. I think the tabs idea of A-list would be someone to mock around here.

This is almost certainly a legal issue. Libel laws in Britain are waaaay stricter than in the US, where the freedom of speech priority prevails. I think American publications can say pretty much anything, even if it's speculative or untrue, as long as it doesn't 'defame' or cause loss of livelihood, etc. (Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong!) This latter is why 'outing' an actor (which may affect his employment) is still potentially libellous in the US - unless it's demonstrably true, in which case, tough.
In the UK, printed comments must be true (especially if they're about someone who likes to sue!). That's why it's safer to 'report on the report' (so to speak) and name no names, rather than originate the story. Hope that makes sense.

I wonder which magazine has the story; National Enquirer probably. They were going to out Matt LeBlanc a few years ago- his chaffeur went to them and even passed a lie detector test.
Whoever it is, they would have to certain about it, because they will be sued back to the stone age.
