I won’t deny I’m having some sort of experimental work here, not exactly as a specialist, but rather as a curious mind (to make it short), and I’m deliberately using KS’s public image for it (my apologies to him, although he certainly doesn’t care) simply because I noticed over the years that his persona is quite a sensitive topic in some circles, and an amazingly efficient bait. Sounds llike his name truly has a magnetic power, as it were. Like Marlon Brando’s back in the sixties, or Klaus Kinski’s in the seventies (and still now, to a lower degree).

The study you’re directing me to provides a good basis for reflection. My own interest would be focused on the specificity of internet gossip, which is essentially celebrity gossip for obvious reasons, and particularly on gay gossip – a thought-provoking and meaningful new phenomenon.
And yes, I think Mr Foster’s work needs an update. One of his main ideas is that gossip has a moral and social policy function. This struck me, because it’s exactly what Perez Hilton says in a recent interview:
