Obviously you don't have any French relatives. They HAVE to kiss each other on the cheek. My husband who is French hates it. He is always kissed by family and friends. He never reciprocates though. It's just what they do. However, having said that, the kiss Travolta gave his "manny" was gay, gay, gay.

Do they? I've never seen that happen. But I'll take your word for it. No it doesn't MAKE them gay but it's always been an indication for me before. I guess from now on I'll just stick to sightings of crotch grabbings. If I see that, I'll say "GAY"

My Grandfather was definitely not gay, but he always greeted friends and family (men and women) with a kiss, either on the cheek or lips. I have seen this from a few different people over the years, none of which i thought were gay. I agree it may not be commonplace everywhere, but some people and cultures do not view acts of simple affection as signs of gayness.

^ Errmm... Kind of.
In North America, as said before, it isn't very common. Most guys I know would punch another guy if he just got kissed for a greeting.
If he knows the guy, homeboy MIGHT get a handshake or hug if it's one of the long lost chums that left town for college and just came back after graduation to visit family during the holidays. I blame this on everyone considering it *gay* to do anything more then that - and at least growing up, boys (whether they are or not) don't like to be saddled with the "gay" label... so they have to prove how manly they are by not being affectionate.
