Noooo, continue!!! Was all this you're telling us about Gable from the Tornabene bio on him?
|
yes, mostly. I highly recommend tornabene's bio,it's well written and being that it was published in 1976 she had the chance to talk with many people who were close friend of gable's and set the record straight on many things, and yet you never once feels she idolizes gable or wants to make a saint out if him,she tells the very negative things when there's need to
The psychological reasons I was referring to in my previous post, the reasons behind gable over the top masculinity, should be researched into his early life. I don't want to make easy banal psychology but the thing is Gable was orphaned at 6 months, when he was 3 he was connected with his father again who had remarried a plain but sweet woman named jennie. As a kid clark had to different visions of life, his stepmother's and his father's. His stepmother encouraged him to take piano and flute lessons,he was in the town band,he draw and read a wide selection of books his stepmother got for him and was most probably the best dressed boy in his little town in Ohio. His father was different and when he came home for the weekends he highly disapproved of his son playing or drawing and let alone reading,he wanted his son to do something different, something with his own hands, and clark didn't seem very fit to fight or run,he was big and tall but not very fast;so basically his father called him 'sissy' the whole time and accused him of turning himself into a woman. This rocky relationship remained rocky until the late 40s when clark and his father, both much older found a way to communicate.
But a part of clark believed the theories of his father ie actors are all sissies, so he tried to make the actor job as masculine as possible, that's why he refused make up on set, wanted to live in the country side with chickens and horses even though he was one of the richest men of the world and remained basically stingy. that's also why he though embarrassing being around openly gay men like cukor,he feared for his own masculinity or for what his father would have thought. definitely gable was much a complicated man,and yet indeed he was the same man who accepted that the woman he loved the most, his lover and then wife Carole lombard, had practically all gay friends.....nothing to add,he was complicated, and if he went thorough the casting couch ( which indeed i think he did ) i don't think it was for a simple 'shame' that then the mere though made him embarrassed, there are much deeper roots for me,I mean this was the man that when in a party his friends found out he had written a small poem ( and very beautiful at that ) find it so embarrassing that he wanted to quit the party....
Also I think for Cary Grant, the situation was completely different,he was living with randy scott and I guess enjoying every little bit of it

I think a lot of sex with a lot of people (and different sexes) went on back then. Doesn't make anyone anything other than experimental or desperate to advance their career.

Too bad they didn't get any of that on film. Now that's a classic.

I LLOOOOOOOOOVE Clark Gable. A real man's man. No way, he was not gay. I refuse to believe that.

Theatrical people ARE gay. Thats what makes them so much fun. Regular guys who arent gay get jobs as truckdrivers and miners and plumbers. Gay guys become actors.

True that, sister. They're arteests, and very rarely would the straight boys in high school audition for 'The King and I.' They were too busy playing football and chasing cheerleaders.

And there are rumors that Clint Eastwood had a male "patron" early in his career.

When I told my exbf that different men in Hollywood were gay he made fun of me & acted as if I were sooooooooo naive. I finally told him he was the naive one to think that Hollywood super male stars weren't/aren't gay. But that's another story about the ex. He would have flipped out had I ever told him his favorite actor Clint Eastwood was anything other than the mostly manly macho woman loving man alive! My mother would tell me about the gay men of Hollywood when I was young. I never have heard this about Clark but of John Wayne & Cary Grant.

KEVIN SPACEY IS NOT GAY!!!!
He is a heterosexual male who prefers to have sex with men rather than women. Nothing gay about it at all.

I have long thought that most male actors are gay. Most actresses are weirdos. This was my experience in high school and college. I never really fit in. Some of the girls were like me, trying to express themselves with a mask. I was very insecure of myself back then. Acting is a way to say and do things you never would in real life. Most male actors started as models,(gay gay) and moved into movies. NOT ALL of them are gay, but most.
