I think closeted celebs are fiercly "protected" by the media and the sport they play for. The NFL has gone to great lengths to sanitize stories about their players to make them more fan friendly. They are very quick to cut away from any scuffles or arguments on the sidelines. The NHL does that to a certain extent too.

We have a football player who lives in town. He was a local hero and made a name for himself in the NFL. He was always portrayed as a ladies man yet his facebook is full of photos of him and another guy visiting places all over the world (and taking photos, arm in arm in Paris). Still, so many people refuse to believe he might be gay.

As to Eric: it is less clear cut that he may swing both ways. When he originally signed up with the Broncos, he roomed with another teammate and in the interview (Eric) it seemed like he was describing their rooming together as a couple who had similar views on various issues and each were prissy (my word) in their personal habits. I know, it is a stretch to read anything into that interview and I let it pass. However, he suddenly is matched up with a country singer: Jessie James and in a subsequent interview, I got the impressionl he is really not into her! The sense of this interview, regarding her, gave me the impression he met her at a church social! (IMO). Regarding Quinn: well, when he was a member of the Cleve. Browns, he supposedly joined a web site, named: Men4Men and posted a photo of himself (hot!). When it was exposed by someone, the lawyers got into the act and the whole thing was retracted and, of course, the denials (my question is: who put his photos on that site?) You know, I can understand their paranoia about keeping their sexual persuasions, secret, but it galls me to have these franchises run a elaborate PR champaign foisting unreal hookups on these guys! If they are gay, let them be they have a right to have their happiness fulfilled with whoever it might be!

BITTER, celebrities, even closeted ones go to gay bars and yes draw attention to themselves...and it doesn't end up in the paper. Every once in a while it does...JC Chasez, Daniel Craig, Queen Latifah & John Mayer, I'm looking at you.

what pisses me off about the NFL NBA & MLB is the lengths they will go through to gloss over any negative rumors about their all star players (and, up and coming ones) in order to 'protect' the image of these athletes! The phony hookups (lately they are proli
ferating) mostly with celebs, is so obvious a PR thing, it is little wonder the fans don't catch on! I'm sure they do, but they want to believe the 'lie' so they can continue to see them as red blooded straight hunks, boning every chick they hook up with! In essence, it is image and money, especially, money! Sports is a multibillion dollar industry and anything that may impinge on that factor, has to be 'corrected!' (Just saying!).

Bitter: your post is somewhat unclear as to what you mean? I did not say Eric is gay! What I did say is the hoopla surrounding him by hooking him up with some popular musical star --implying they are trying to refubrish his image by making her his 'hottie!' So, you are gay--what has that to do with Eric being gay (your statement)? If you mean that I am the one calling him gay--is quite a streatch-- at the most, I am puzzled by the PR surrounding his involvement with the ladies! The guy was an all star in high school and outstanding athlete in college, and in the bios I have read about him, nothing is mentioned about his relationships, i.e., gf, so or possibly being a father without benefit of marriage! Also, since becoming a professional, I have not read anything about hiis social life involving his dating anyone until the item that he is seeing Jessi James! Believe me, if I missed any references to his past dating habits, please let me know, o.k.?

Oh yeah, how about an oldie, but goodie - Tennis player Jan-Michael Gambill. There have been rumors for years that he's gay and lives with his boyfriend in California and Hawaii. He definitely has what many people consider classically handsome looks and he's in his mid-30's and still single and has little, if any history with dating women. Not that it means anything, but where there's smoke, there's usually fire.

Ok, count me in with those who think Tebow is gay. Yes, I know this is based on stereotypes, but his latest comments and pictures from his visit to the Wicked play have sealed the deal for me. His mannerisms, way of talking, lifestyle, etc make me think he's not 100% hetero. The only men I know that have since Wicked and raved about it have been my gay uncles. Not saying hetero men don't love that shit, but with all the other things about him that make me raise my eyebrows, I think he could be in the deep, deep closet.
