Re: Alicia Keyes another Layla Ali?
I actually don't think Alicia is gay. I wouldn't be surprised if she was bisexual, but I think she is straight.

Re: Alicia Keyes another Layla Ali?
Don't you mean how black people wear their hair let's not forget Alicia is half black and what is wrong with cornrows. Also how the hell is she a hoodrat she has alot more class than most people in holly wood. Just because she doesn't spread her business all over the news doesn't mean she is a lesbian or a bisexual. Some people do like to keep their "PRIVATE" lives PRIVATE.
Also what does wearing cornrows have to do with African Americans not having money, couldn't it be we like to keep our natural hair and having cornrows is and easy way to handle it. Not everyone wants to be a white wannabe with straight hair.

I couldn't agree more. I'd thought in the past that she may have been gay because she just has a somewhat manly demeanor, but to me that's only until you hear her talk, and listen to what she says...She's just from NY, has a deep voice and thick accent, but that doesn't make her gay. Her style (at least what we saw publicly) has been quite tomboyish, but truth be told, her body size and shape was quite unproportioned when she first came out too. Much of her wardrobe seemed designed to kind of mute that aspect- jeans/pants with big weird bousties (sp!!) to cover up large bottom half was actually more strategical than fashionable...Also, Krucial has been her man for a while, check the Songs in A Minor Credits...

Is she heterosexual or diving for clams, who knows. Personally I don't think so. I just find it ironic that anyone in Hollywood who isn't insecure and doesn't have to have a man every weekend is called 'gay'. How is Alicia supposed to be? Like J.Lo, switching men every year?
|
Exactly.
I have no idea if she is a lesbian because I do not care. Although, I do believe she is a beautiful, strong woman, and because of that she is labeled as a lesbian. In our society it seems like, unless we're a bunch of whores, we're lesbians. Ah... ignorant Hollywood.
And why do people always assume everything is a game in Hollywood? The majority is, yes, but please -- these are real people we are talking about and not everyone plays that stupid Hollywood/publicity game. And even so, it's somewhat easy to tell what is and what isn't real. Only a dumbass that believes every gossip/tabloid rag mag wouldn't be able to tell the difference after a good amount of time.
I just don't get some people and their unnecessary questions. Gimme a break!

Sorry but she doesn't have chest hair. Few "odd" shadows in few pics and soon everyone thinks she has chest hair. talk about snowball effect.

Okay, why assume that because any woman that is slightly, "masculine" she must be gay? I honestly don't think she is, she's been dating her boyfriend for a while now, and no I don't think it's an act, maybe she's just grown up...outgrew the tomboy act...I don't understand how anyone could even say really that she's ghetto or even really ignorant.
I have never heard a damn bad thing about her, and as far as being "ghetto", please. She's graduated high school a year early, straight A student, so this woman is far from ghetto and ignorant.

Now the chick is expected to transform herself into some sleek African princess? Vanessa Williams she is not.

A dress and heels doesn't make you feminine, and not wearing those things don't make you ghetto, a hoodrat, tough or manly.... Not all women aspire to be Vanessa Williams...

She was on an episode of the Cosby show and had other acting offers, but loved playing piano better..
She went to a Professional Performing Arts School where she graduated as Valedictorian at age 16, Then was accepted into Columbia University!! also, she was signed to So So Def first, dropped then Clive Davis picked her up!!

Alicia may do it because that's what she was used to when she lived in the 'hood. In her case I think it's more of a political/cultural statement. She's proud of being black and wants to 'represent' where she came from. I really don't think it's some mysterious sign that she's gay.

I don't know what inside to black hair you have, but getting cornrows cost just as much as those other hairstyle you mentioned if not more... I didn't know that black people wear cornrows because that is what the are use to...and it might have been a politcal/cultural statement in 1976..but not now

Cornrows and no baggy clothes....

I don't think she's a lesbian. She doesn't tip off my gaydar at all, but even if she is, all I care about is her music. She's one of the precious few mainstream artists out there who is actually talented and makes beautiful music.

She's been dating the same dude forever now.
Um, I guess I could see where some might get a lezbot vibe from her but i think she prefers men.
And she is stunning. I think she is so purty.
