I always figured Mary Grace Canfield was gay. She played "Ralph" on Green Acres.

Hey I don't know if any of you have heard of the site nndb.com, but it stand for Notable Names Data Base. It shows alot of stuff about all the celebs, politicians, etc. It shows in some instances their sexual orientation, it's pretty cool. BTW I just looked up Paul Lynde in there, and it does say he's gay.

I think she was married three or four times.... of course that doesn't mean anything, lol. She died of complications from cancer but also had aids. Her last husband had aids I believe. Given that so many confused aids with being gay, especially twenty years ago, maybe that caused some confusion in people's minds? Of course keep in mind that I do not remember where I read all of this. It was years ago.
I also remember reading that she and the actor who played the doctor on Gunsmoke were seeing each other.
(blinks) I don't even like westerns, how do I know all of this??

So artistic people are gay? Like straight people are politicians and housewives? And priests are pedophiles? Well a majority of them are.

Mike Douglas was gay too, right?
Earl Holliman, definitely yes. I met him in person once. Very funny guy, great sense of humor. And he (gently and politely) hit on the male friend who invited me to that party, so yes, gay. I thought he was totally delightful and fun. He's aged nicely, too.
ETA: I loved Agnes Moorehead. I have heard that she was gay but frankly she never quite struck me that way. I have also heard that she was a very private, dignified and somewhat sensitive and sad person. I hope not, to the sad part! She was a marvelous actress and had a fascinating air about her.

Hm, oh, this is movies and not (far as I know) TV, but I just had to mention another old time lesbian actress, the great Hope Emerson, who played the prison matron in "Caged" with Eleanor Parker. She was soooo much fun to watch, just a wickedly fun performer. I found this great picture and had to share it (Hope is on the right, and yes, she was six foot two!) I've heard she was a very congenial person in real life, but of course she was typecast as villainesses...

Might be bisexual, though in my crowd, a fling with the opposite sex may or may not mean that the person is heterosexual, just like a fling with a same sex partner may or may not mean the person is homosexual.
Side note on marriage, as I saw someone remark that it might not mean anything in relation to orientation: I couldn't agree more, based on what I was/am seeing in real life. A story here: I came across an issue of In the Family magazine, which is an LGBT mag for psychotherapists, devoted to this topic. I subscribed for a while some years back, and one issue was devoted to "being gay and married," those homosexual folks who nonetheless chose to live in a hetero marriage for any number of reasons (e.g., companionship with a reliable, wonderful friend; finding an excellent partner with whom to raise children; others) but still self-identified along the LGBTQ spectrum.
