I would think alot of 18 year old gay guys didn't 'come out' when asked about their sexual orientation.
For the record, I see Kalan as asexual

I remember on Muchmusic when one of the VJs asked him if his songs got him lots of girls or something...he looked SO uncomfortable. It's possible that he is straight and just...never really interacted with girls and is super shy
