Early on in 2006 Perez started to post pics on his site of Lance and Reichen. He noted that Reichen was an openly gay activist and that there were rumours that Lance was a closeted homosexual. Perez continued to complie a series of pics showing Lance and Reichen going on vacations to Las Vegas, and NYC together. He also had pics of them wearing each other's clothes. And he got his assistants to go live on the scene to investigate. The breaking point was on the Fourth of July weekend Lance and Reichen were spotted at Provincetown which is a gay resort for homosexuals in the summertime. The mainstream media such as ABC news picked up on the story. Perez continued his reporting and then Lance came out in People's Magazine.

In relation to NPH what happened was Neil's publicist denied Neil was gay. Perez went on the attack and put up pics of Neil's ex lover Max Von Essen. And said Neil likes theatre actors. Sure enough in less then a week Neil came out as well.

It makes Perez sound like a beast; forcing people out of the closet. He should make his friend Paris come out

What bugs me about the whole Perez outing thing (other than I think it's wrong to think we have a "right" to know someone's sexual orientation simply bc that person "chose" to be in the spotlight) is that he tries to cloak his quest to "make his mark" or leave some sort of "legacy" by what he does in pretending to be doing what he does for the sake of gay rights.

Some gay groups have even given him awards for this. I think he's simply being narcissistic, and needs to stop. Heck, it's just not all that interesting, and if more people tune out with a big "yawn, who cares?" he won't have anyone to squawk to. It's the teenie-boppers with crushes and homophobes that really care anyway, IMO...

I agree that publicists don't have the control they used to have. I read perez's site and just roll my eyes. He says he can't be sued becuz it's a gossip site. And you can't be sued for gossip.
Also, I don't think it was him that got Lance to come out. I think Lance was in LOVE and that's why he came out. I get that Perez was posting pictures but I'm a fan of Kelly Clarkson and I have pictures of her that make her look so gay but I really don't think she is...Think, how many pictures you take with a person of the same sex??? I hate how they draw cum on celebs. It's just sick!
It also bugs me that a gay man would OUT another gay person who may not be ready to come out or even worse, who may not be GAY.
I don't understand this group of gays who would hurt a person, just to make up a gossip blog. There's just something so evil & wrong in that.

Very, very rarely! I think that's the problem with most people: they truly want to believe that these "stars" are other-worldly beings with these remarkably scandalous lives. Honestly, who wants to think about their "idol" being a *gasp* real person that eats, shits, pisses, curses etc.? Who wants to think that they sleep in a bed every night like we do, wake up in the morning like we do, eat breakfast like we do, and then go to work like we do? Nobody. It's boring because it's relatable! I think because of this "want" to believe that they're remarkable people, people believe everything that comes their way. In real life, I don't care if someone's gay or a drug addict -- they're still normal people just like you, me, and our neighbors. Even if they have a scandal, it's only made to be remarkable (or stranger than fiction) because they're famous, and it's all in the way you write it.

Perezhilton got Neil Patrick Harris and Lance Bass to come out of the closet. Now that would never happen 15 years ago. But now with the internet stories can be posted in a second. And Hollywood publicists don't have the control they once had to be able to theaten people. In the past publicists would say to a magazine if they wrote a negative article they won't allow their client to talk to that publication. But on the internet bloggers don't give a fuck about publicists and the control is gone. I think the internet is amazing it gives the power back to the people. Because the tabloids are a business and their job is to sell magazines. With the internet people can by pass all the magazine BS and get the truth.
That's one of the good and bad things about the internet. It's VERY easy to get the gossip but that also means that it's VERY easy to make it up -- so it's sort of a 50/50 thing. With magazines, you pretty much knew it was bullshit but there was something else about it that kept it a little safe... I don't know how to explain it. Nowadays with the internet, there is SO much gossip -- SO many gossip blogs -- that you don't know who the hell to believe or disbelieve so everybody just ends up believing everything! I've seen this first-hand. It's so, so, so easy to make things up and people are SO gullible online -- more so than they are in real life for some reason.

I could get on any of these boards, say I live in LA, and basically tell people whatever I want and I guarantee you, they'd believe me. People really do have this hunger for gossip 24/7. I personally enjoy reading bullshit to get away from every day life, but I don't have a hunger for it like some people. Maybe that's why I usually have a bit of a different opinion about this stuff; I'm really not gullible 'cause I don't care enough to believe or disbelieve it.

Perez is a filthy piece of crap. I'm so, so, so sick of that guy getting publicity and making money off of his lousy website. He is a foul person that thinks he's doing good for humanity. *snort* You'll never see him outing a big name, or his best, best bud Paris, for that matter.

It wasn't just pictures that he posted. He would make comments repeatedly telling them that they should just come out already, or that they were dating (when neither had made a public statement). He did force them to make a statement, and in my opinion, nobody should have to be forced to reveal their private life. That's just wrong. Gay, straight, bi etc. It's your right to have a private life and you should not be forced out. If someone came down on me to reveal my boyfriend to the world, I'd kick them in the nuts. I'm a private person and it's just unnecessary.

There is definitely something wrong about it, which is why I refuse to visit Perez's site anymore. I refuse to give him a hit. Even if I'm linked to some new gossip that I want to read -- if I see his site, I do not click.
