Ted C could be making the gossip up?

I don't know why people take Ted Cassablanca's gossip about Jake Gyllenhaal as the truth? For all we know he could just be making the thing up. Now you go on the web there are Toothy Tile blogs. So just because Jake plays a homosexual in a movie doesn't make him gay. No wonder so many straight actors refuse to take on a gay role because they know people will speculate. Isn't that a double standard? If Charlize Theron can have a lesbian romance with Christina Ricci in Monster and no one says she's gay. And if Ted C wants to tell the truth why can't he just name the actor he believes is homosexual? Ted C writes intimiate details about stars all the time. So I thnk people shouldn't believe Ted C so far there is absolutely no proof that Jake Gyllenhaal is even remotely gay. All we know is the guy is single. Ted C is wrong to be speading false news like that. I am surprised no one has sued Ted C yet.

Well, he wouldn't have stayed employed as long as he has if he routinely made things up. He's been right about quite a few things. Remember, a gossip column is supposed to include some speculation that doesn't necessarily pan out.

You can't "out" people without risking massive lawsuits. Even if the company Ted works for has deep pockets, he doesn't. Plus, companies don't want to spend their money that way.

I worked as a journalist in the entertainment industry, specifically movie industry, for more than a decade and believe me, we ALL knew plenty more than we ever wrote or even hinted about.

People are shocked that Tom Selleck and Tom Cruise are gay -- it's been an open secret in the industry for decades.

Ted is just vague enough to keep from being sued. I think it's most clever of him to twist things around and keep us guessing and not focused on our own boring little lives.

I don't give a fart in a whirlwind about Jake or Ricci or *insert name here*

Hey PB I was cleaning out the attic this afternoon and stumbled across an old Spy Magazine from 1991. The Usual Suspects column had a funny Ted-like piece hinting about the sexuality of Kevin Spacey. In retrospect it's actually quite telling and funny.

Tom Selleck is gay? I've never heard that one before, though now that I think about it, it sorta makes sense.

You need to be able to prove said allegation, because it might
hinder the person's reputation and cause their career to suffer --
and this means that said statement is defamatory, and subject
to a lawsuit in civil court. (It goes without saying that charges
aren't filed by police in matters between two private parties.)

Just because everyone "knows" a secret within certain circles
doesn't mean they'll admit to it in court.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ted Casablancas has never specifically said Jake is Toothy Tile.

Which seems to mean Jake is so obviously gay that even his rabid "he just hasn't found the right girl yet!" fans like you assume Jake is Toothy.

A real defense of Jake should blast silly homophobes for making this an issue in the first place. If it wasn't so taboo, nobody would care.

For me, his sexuality certainly doesn't stop me from thinking he's hot. If he's gay, good for him, I still think his eyes are dreamy and will continue having X-rated fantasies about him. If he's straight, it's still all fantasy, it's not like I or any of his million fans would ever have any real chance with him.

I don't understand why people get so worked up over this. People need to get a grip, it's just Hollywood and inconsequential to one's real life.

Is Tom Selleck really gay? I remember seeing him talk about his daughter on Ellen. But I guess you can be gay and be married and have kids etc.
