I honestly think Alicia Keyes is a butch, and her label dressed her up like a girl to clean up the gay rumors. Alicia looks uncomfortable in her girlish clothes. Do you all remember when she first came out? She was all cornrows, like the prisoners wear their hair, and she wore pants/jeans all the time.

The gay rumors come out, and she turns around and starts dressing up like a girl...You never see her out with a male date or anything. In her video with Usher, she looks extremely uncomfortable as Usher gets up close to her. Read the body language. She's definitely on my list for being an in-closet gay. It would hurt her career if she came out.

Alicia Keyes is just plain ghetto. That's how little hoodrats who have no sophistication act. They walk, talk, move and act tough (or manly). They don't walk around in heels and dresses primping themselves--they are uncultured. That's why Alicia Keyes is uncomfortable in dresses--she's probably spent most of her life wearing levis, dickie pants, converse and FUBU shirts. Now the chick is expected to transform herself into some sleek African princess? Vanessa Williams she is not.

The luckiest break that girl ever got was being accepted into that music school. People from the hood are talented too, you know...lol Look at all these men in prison who are amazing artists, musicians and singers. They just didn't have Clive Davis meet and promote them.

As far as her hairstyle, cornrows has nothing to do with being gay or being in prison. A lot of African Americans wear cornrows if the don't have the money to get their hair done (permed, weaved, whatever). It's just easier. Alicia may do it because that's what she was used to when she lived in the 'hood. In her case I think it's more of a political/cultural statement. She's proud of being black and wants to 'represent' where she came from. I really don't think it's some mysterious sign that she's gay.

Is she heterosexual or diving for clams, who knows. Personally I don't think so. I just find it ironic that anyone in Hollywood who isn't insecure and doesn't have to have a man every weekend is called 'gay'. How is Alicia supposed to be? Like J.Lo, switching men every year?

It never occurred to me she might be gay. But I've never seen her with a man or heard of a boyfriend, now that you mention it.

WOW um perhaps some get there hair braided because they like it- Or to give it a break from the constant perms or weaves or heat styles so it can grow..Also i didnt know Hells Kitchen was the "hood".. Cant she just be more comfy in looser clothes and sneakers.. IM certainly not a hoodrat but i didn't start dressing out of that style until 21.. Maybe it's just something she outgrew- As for looking uneasy maybe shes just not real good at being in the spotlight...

She could very well be gay but you don't have to drag her down like that will all the names. I know that is somewhat what he do here but, that was not even needed... The question presented was does she dress that way because shes gay.

i read somewhere, will find the link...that they have been dating since before she was legal coz the guy is in his 30s now and thats why they try to avoid questions about their relationship. also lets face it a record company would rather promote a single Alicia keys that one with a steady boyfriend so i am sure she is probably being advised to keep her relationship to herself....

Hell's Kitchen is not "the hood" as far as I know.... and as far as I know, Alicia was nothing close to being a hoodrat. She went to an ivy league school, for god's sake.

I'm sorry. I don't buy it. I mean the boy in the pics is more than likely someone to pose with her to throw the public off... If anyone knows the gossip queen Wendy Williams, then you will know that Wendy sends people out to industry parties and different functions to spy and see what's going on. Wendy is also a believer that Alicia is gay, even though Alicia denies it. I used to be a tom boy, but that didn't stop me from kissing boys in public... It wouldn't hurt her rep if she had a boyfriend and was open about. Most female artists have boyfriends, and it doesn't affect their careers. Male artists are the ones who should keep silent and remain single because being single and available helps their music sales...
