Recent pics from Milan mens shows:

    (style and Vogue)

She seems to be hyperskinny again.

But she looks hot and sexy anyway.

Oubliette, this thread is not against skinny people. It's against hiring sickly looking people as models and by doing so idolizing their unhealthy looks, which will lead some people, who are easily influenced (like soothin), to strive for this exact same appearance.

The point I was trying to make is that I happen to look like her & in my
case it's natural. The only thing I see on her that is really "off" is that she
seems to be straining her neck all the time. Other than that, my arms look
like hers & my legs look like hers, so I know damn well it's possible to look
frail naturally. You assume she does that to herself, much like people have
    accused me of doing such.

My mother had a friend named Sammy. This girl wanted to be just like my
mom. She read all my mom's books & did everything my mom did. Basically
she didn't want to just be like my mom, she wanted to be her. She decided
to starve herself to be thin like my mom, she ended up collapsing. She
never made it to being anywhere near as thin as my mom. When my mom
went to see her, Sammy's mother told her it was all her fault her daughter
did that to herself & my mother could starve herself all she wanted, but
she wasn't going to kill Sammy. My mom didn't even know Sammy was
doing that to herself. My mom was only about 15 & Sammy's mom wouldn't
let them see eachother for months. Once she did allow them to talk, my
mom was only allowed to see Sammy at her house where her mom could
listen to everything my mom would say.

I wonder, do you think all ballerinas have disorders too? They have the
    same bodies.

The point with this girl is that she looks unhealthy. By unnaturally skinny we don't mean just extremely thin but also that it looks awkward on her. In this girl's particular case something seems off with her body. She looks sallow and has bags under her eyes as well.

Also, in some pictures she has a LITTLE more weight on her and doesn't look so bad. The just plain thin pictures may be her healthy size but you go to another set of pictures and she's looking too frail again.

The problem with you judging by the surface is, you don't know what other
factors play a part in her fluctuating weight. She could have been sick or
not getting enough sleep & being run ragged, she could've been depressed... any number of things could lead to weight loss. I know that first hand.

In high school, I was accused by the school nurse of making myself sick.
She pointed to two different times I had lost a significant ammount of
weight. The first time, I had just lost someone very close to me. I had no
sisters & she was an only child, so we were sisters for eachother & I
became quite depressed when she died (over Christmas vacation no less). I
missed an entire week of school & had to be forced by my mother to go
back. The second time, I had the flu for two weeks straight in the middle of
school season. I normally weigh 85lbs, my weight dropped to 76lbs. I was in
the process of trying to gain the weight back when she demanded I go to a
Dr & threatened my parents with CPS if they didn't take me. I had a ton of
blood work, as I've been forced to have every time someone accuses me of
this. The only thing the Dr found (only a couple months after the flu) was
that I was slightly anemic. I was sent on my way. The nurse had the
audacity to demand I see another Dr, telling my mom this Dr had no idea
what they were talking about. My mom told her off & since I had dealt with
this woman harrassing me every year... I finished the year & never went back.

In both those cases, I wasn't starving myself. The depression over my dear
friend's death took it's toll & eating didn't make any difference, I still lost
weight. With the flu, I was too sick to keep anything down... it wasn't for
    lack of trying.

Basically you're jumping to the conclusion she's doing something to herself
& I'm trying to say that isn't always the case.

Not that I'm doubting your story here, but I find it extremely.....excessive......that a (qualified, i.e. actual) nurse would threaten your parents with CPS over this. Especially if she has seen for herself or even had it explained to her that your mom is a small/thin woman as well.

I don't know what she was actually qualified for (I went ot a private school
& don't know what their rules are for personnel). All I know is she was the
school's nurse. My mom brought pics to show how thin she was & the nurse
(who happened to be on the large side, she had a double chin) wouldn't
listen. She dragged me out of detention at lunch after I had finished
eating. We had large ravioli (what is the plural, raviolis sounds odd) on the
menu that day. I was brought to her office, weighed, then asked a battery
of questions designed to reach the conclusion that I wasn't healthy. I was
asked if I ate, what I ate, how I ate it & how often. I told her I eat
whatever I please, whenever I please going so far as to tell her my dad will
go out & buy expensive steak if I say it's what I want. He will too. I told
her he'll buy it, cook it & we'll have potatoes too. I went through an entire
list of things I eat, she didn't really listen to a word I said. She had a sort
of evaluation sheet I had to bring home to my mom. She had written that I
was belligerent (I was actually indignant), antisocial, depressed & a whole
litany of other charges. She'd actually bothered me every year for
something. She asked me about the two seperate times I lost weight & I
explained them to her. She didn't listen to that either.

She called my mom (before I got home, trying to head me off) & was trying
to tell her she was sure there was something wrong with me. My mom
assured her she was wrong & she actually told my mom she didn't know me
as well as she thought she did. My mom & I happen to be very close. We
talk about lots of things together, even guys & how odd they are. After
getting her head handed to by my mom, she called my dad's cell phone
while he was at work (it was only meant for emergencies). He didn't
answer, so she left a message saying my mom was uncooperative & she
was calling CPS. My dad called mom & laughed over it, but I still went to a
Dr. All the Drs I'd been to had said she was just a nurse, not qualified to
act as a Dr herself & she should get a life.

She actually did the same thing to another girl who was also thin, but
shorter than I was. That girl was actually hospitalized & forced to gain
weight. When she got out, she looked horrible. Her face looked swollen &
the rest of her still looked thin. The weight dropped off & she ended up
looking like she did before. The nurse also tried to do the same thing to my
best friend, but her mom worked in the office & told the nurse she'd better not.

I think it was just her. She was quite friendly with the bigger girls. I will
admit that I hated school enough that it would make me physically sick at
times, but that had nothing to do with food or anything. That had to do
with stress & she didn't help that any. There were a few people I dreaded
seeing, she was one of them.

If this is the case then she sounds like she has a screw loose and someone should be filing complaints. Especially if she is liscensed. Against the school perhaps, if she is not.

Now I don't know how tall you are but 85lbs is not a healthy weight unless you are 4 feet 7 inches and even then it's bordering the underweight category.

Once again, this depends on several factors: Age, genetic build, developmental level. Some people develop and fill out earlier than others, especially with young girls. As a rule, young girls are developing earlier and earlier. Couple that with the increasing prevalence and "normalcy" of overweight and obesity and it will indeed make a late-bloomer who may also be genetically thin seem way out of the normal range. I have never even been what you could call "skinny" but I was 84# and 4'10" in the sixth grade and back then (I'm 36 now) no one would have even thought to call that underweight. It was certainly enough bodyfat for me to start having periods!

The principal was the one who gave her permission to go after me. The
principal & I didn't get along, she was a phony. You could tell that in her
smile. Anyway, I had tried to confide in her concerning some family
problems & about half an hour later I had the nurse on me. My parents
were trying to play the game fairly & actually address their concerns, but it
didn't matter who said what. They were always convinced they were
right... you know of those types, I'm sure. The world is flat & all that.
Since it was a private "christian" school, it didn't occur to lodge a
complaint. My mom had actually tried to get the names of people on the
school board (so she could talk to someone, anyone) with the help of a
woman we knew at the school. She was asked what she wanted them for
& they refused to give them to her.

I didn't come in here to say this Vlada girl has an attractive look. Actually,
I'm not impressed with it. That's probably due to the fact I have the same
figure (or lack thereof) & have had to deal with comments being said to my
face. Comments quite similar to the ones throughout this thread. Older,
curvier (or just plain bigger) girls used to call me "chicken legs". I've had
people attack & try to tear me down with little or no information, like I've
seen in this thread. The girl doesn't "look" right, therefore it must be wrong.
That's like people assuming all large people are lazy & eat too much.

I have had people tell me they'd kill to look like me. I think they're crazy.
Not everyone is meant to look like a runway model or a ballerina (the other
profession for thin girls). Personally I'd like to be more hourglass curvy.

That sounds familiar. I'm barely 5ft tall, as I said in another post & have
always looked like this. I've been known to eat a 16oz steak by myself. I
could eat a whole pound of pound cake & not gain a pound. I also
mentioned in one post having to go to numerous Drs for blood work only to
find (only the once) that I was slightly anemic, despite going throught the
    whole spectrum of tests.

Honestly, it's comments like yours that color womens views of themselves.
"Real" women aren't necessarily a certain weight or "curvy" so to speak.
"Real" women come in all shapes, sizes & weights & it's statements like
yours that cause women to pigeon-hole themselves into a little mold,
forcing themselves to fit if necessary. You can't get over this weight or
below this weight. If either occurs, there's something wrong with you. The
weight that works for you, works for you. It doesn't mean it will work for
your neighbor, your friends, your coworkers or even your pets.

Honestly, if I was underweight I wouldn't be PMSing all over you for your
    "small box" minded comment.

Thank you Mrs Dark for your post.

Er, no they don't. Coming from someone who's been in ballet nearly all her life (sadly, all the time spent there didn't do any good, as I still can't dance for shit), it's pretty safe to say that someone who looked like this would not be able to dance. All dancers, especially ballerinas have to be very strong, very fit; follow a healthy diet, and have good muscle tone. Sure, there are a lot of dancers out there with eating disorders, but that just makes for someone who won't be able to dance really soon.

^^ that reminds me of this chick that was on the show Intervention, she was a dancer and had an eating disorder. She really had no strength or energy to dance and collapsed.

If you think it's crazy, you ain't seen a thing. Just wait until we're goin down in flames.
