a black box warning is what the fda assigns to some prescription drugs - it is a signal that really bad adverse events have occurred in clinical trials, but given how serious the disease is (like, say lung cancer), the risk is considered acceptable. the fda requires that the text be enclosed in a black box (outline).
not sure what the EMA analog is.
Ugh, needles really turn me off. I'd rather diet than stick myself daily or even weekly. I agree with czb, the condition has to be serious to be worth the side effects (morbid obesity or T2 diabetes).
I wonder if there are any updates from those posters who were trying this, I'm curious.
i tried it. It definitely curbed my appetite but the side effects of fatigue and nausea, major constipations, along with the bruising and negative thoughts around the daily needle poke made me dump it. oh yeah, the cancer concerns were not lost on me, either - especially given my family history. So, im doing intermittent fasting. and still overweight but i feel good!
Intermittent fasting has been a revelation to me. I've lost 15 kg (30+ pounds, not exactly sure) in the last 8 months, and now it's a way of life. And it gets so much easier the longer you go, and costs nothing! No needles, no pills, no shakes, no special foods - just your body adjusting to what it really needs. Good luck!

^^I've been wanting to try it, but I'm not sure how long or from what time to what time it's recommended to do so. How are you doing it?
I started doing 16/8 (16 hours fasting, 8 hour eating window) after sprynkles posted a video in the weight loss thread. I kept it up for a few months with slow and small results, which I was fine with as I’m old and dropping the weight too quickly would make me gaunt and saggy. The main benefit in those first months was training my body and mind to look at food in a different way, and to learn the difference between eating for nutrition and eating because I’m bored. Over the Xmas break I was able to cut my eating window down so I ended up doing 20/4, and that’s when I started really losing.
now I eat whatever I want, but when you don’t eat for 20 hours your body is crying out for something healthy, so I rarely binge on bad shit. But when I do, big deal, I adjust the next day and stay on track. I don’t deprive myself of anything, but if I want pizza I’ll buy a slice instead of a whole one. I still eat chocolate every day! But only a fraction of what I used to be able to shovel down, and I enjoy it so much more.
