No kidding, getting fat and then getting paid to lose it isn't a real profession and can obviously have some ridiculously serious consequences.

They're filming in Sydney at the moment which is having a very mild, cool summer (by our standards) but Doonside is out in the sticks so it's probably a bit hotter. The Giants are an AFL team and those guys are super-fit so I'm not surprised he struggled trying to do their training drills. I feel more sorry for him having to spend the night at Mt Druitt Hospital - I think I'd rather go to a vet than set foot in that place.

So y'all think it's the heat and not any drugs he might be taking (or have taken) which are known to damage the heart?

It's a shame he's just a layabout most of the time. That kind of lifestyle can be very destructive especially with all Britters' money and no need (or desire) to work.

He could, I dunno, dance. I hear that's good for the heart and fitness levels.

Even the fittest, clean-living person could suffer from the heat in the Kimberley. It's incredibly hot and parts of it are desert. It's ridiculous that they're sending overweight people out there to do punishing exercise, but I haven't seen the show so I don't really know what happened.

UPDATE 1.37pm: BRITNEY Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline is recovering at home after collapsing during a challenge for Nine's new reality weight-loss show Excess Baggage.

The 33-year-old former dancer was doing a challenge with AFL's new Greater Western Sydney team yesterday when he displayed symptoms of minor cardiac arrest.
He was taken by ambulance to Mt Druitt Hospital, where an ECG later revealed he didn't suffer a heart attack.
A spokesman for production company Fremantle Media said Federline was released from hospital late last night after having further tests.
"Excess Baggage contestant Kevin Federline has been given the all-clear after spending the day in medical care,'' the spokesman said.
"Kevin and producers became concerned with his extreme pulse rate and abnormal heart beat during a week six challenge of the program. The program medic took the action of calling an ambulance so that a hospital could assess his well-being. After more tests, he was released late last night."

The spokesman said while Federline is recovering at home, he would undergo more tests before returning to the show later this week.
"Kevin is now at home with his family and will undergo further investigation with a cardiologist today,'' he said.
"He is expected to be back on set Friday.''
Earlier a spokesman for Nine said the challenge was not considered dangerous and was a running and catching warm-up drill used by AFL players.
Host Kate Ceberano said Federline had recently tried to quit booze in his battle against the bulge and hinted his body may have simply become unable to cope with the strain of change.
"I'm very concerned about his current condition," she said yesterday.
"There are things in all the contestants that they want to conquer.
"I know (he) has been giving up drinking and doing a variety of different things to help his nutrition and his health and sometimes when you change things too suddenly it can happen."

Ceberano described Federline as the "underdog" of the competition.
"He's very quiet, very gentle," she said.
    "He's a really lo-fi guy."
It is the second time this series the US star has been taken to hospital. He was treated for "heat stress" during a challenge in West Australia's Kimberley region.
Federline, who shares custody of two boys with Spears, weighed into the competition nine weeks ago at 105kg and said he wanted to "become fit, healthy and buff once more".

I'm sure Kate Ceberano will recommend a few weeks in the sauna and about 20 grand worth of auditing for KFed. Yes, she's one of tho$e.

I'm looking forward to this show. I'd much rather watch d-list celebrities go to hell and back than normal folk...

I bet there's a whole tribe of Co$bots on set giving these fatties the necessary "counselling" and "diet advice". KFed is dumb (and rich) enough to sign up. People have been saying for years that these high intensity weightloss shows are dangerous and push unfit, overweight people way too hard so they can 'win' the competition to lose 50lbs in 2 weeks or whatever ridiculous targets they are set. And a contestant keeling over with heart problems, especially a celeb? It's great for the ratings folks!

A work colleague of mine is really into these shows. She has said in the past that the Australian ones lose a LOT of weight all the way through... Like 15lbs in one week, which obviously isn't nec healthy...

heating on your diet Federline? Kevin stocks up at grocery store but buys unhealthy snacks

    By Dianne King

Kevin Federline has had a long battle with the bulge including spells on various weight loss shows.
And although the former backing dancer seems to have dropped some pounds he may be in peril of jeopardising all of his hard work.
The father-of-five was seen stocking up at a supermarket in Calabasas, California yesterday.

Cheating with Cheetos: Kevin Federline loads up his car after a trip to the grocery store in Calabasas, California yesterday

Doting dad: The 34-year-old was joined by two of his five children; Kori and Kaleb from his relationship with Shar Jackson

Domestic dude: Kevin's trolley was filled to the brim with bread, milk, toilet paper and snacks

Although most of what he purchased was disguised in brown paper bags, a telling bag of Cheetos cheese puffs peeped out of one of the parcels.
Of course it could have been for his children but with Kevin's past track record, it would not be unfair to assume it was his.
Kevin, 34, was joined on his domestic escapade by two of his children; Kori, nine, and Kaleb, seven.

Bonding: Kevin's seven-year-old son gave his father the peace sign

They are a product of his relationship with Moesha actress Shar Jackson who he left when she was pregnant with Kaleb to start up a relationship with Britney Spears.
Kevin's trolley was filled to the brim with various things include bread, milk, corn snacks and toilet paper.
He was later seen pumping gas at a nearby petrol station where his outfit of grey sweat pants and matching baggie hoodie did little for his physique.

Battle of the bulge: Kevin has struggled with his weight for several years and even appeared on a couple of weight loss shows

Bad taste: Kevin's aunt has recently written an erotic novel allegedly based on his relationship with ex-wife Britney Spears

Kevin recently starred on Australian weight loss show Excess Baggage but was rushed to hospital suffering a minor heart attack while filming the programme.
He had weighed in at 105.4 kilograms at the beginning of the series and said that he wanted to take part in the programme to 'become fit, healthy and buff once more'.
But just weeks later he was seen puffing on a cigarette as he went out with his girlfriend Victoria Prince and their baby daughter Jordan Kay.

Keep going: Kevin appears to have lost some weight but still has a way to go

Chore: Kevin later stopped to pump some gas and bought even more snacks

Kevin also has two children with ex-wife Britney Spears; Sean Preston, six,
    and Jayden James, five.
Kevin's aunt Diane Story recently released an erotic novel that was allegedly inspired by his relationship with Britney.
The book centres on out-of-work dancer 'Keenan Fazio' who falls in love with pop princess 'Krissy Doucet' and all the paparazzi, sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll that follow their hot romance.
Federline was a backup dancer for a number of years for Michael Jackson,
Justin Timberlake, Destiny's Child, Pink, and LFO, and then of course, Britney herself
