Brigitte Bardot, the first size zero

They are! I have one, and even though I don't tighten it to maximum capacity, I can't wear it for more than a few hours at a time.

Brigitte was gorgeous. Her body was perfect-definitely not too thin.

She overdid it in that photo,but it was the rage then,the tiniest the sexiest.
BB was not only one of the prettiest,but imho the sexiest star of her time.She still is a naturally attractive eldery woman.

It's cinched or a corset. I've seen photos of her in bikini and dance-wear (she was a ballet dancer) and she was slim but by no means wasting away either. She's also not all that tall. I remember reading a bio of her by her first husband and he said she was amazingly normal about food, always eating a decent breakfast. As a dancer (her first love) she had to keep up her strength and stay fit.

Facially she was gorgeous, but her tiny little waist is vomitious. I mean, really, what would that look like naked if it's unassisted? (ie if there's no corsetting involved).

The thing is, although her waist is tiny she looks normal otherwise. Her arms have some meat on them in that photo. I really don't think she would have been a size zero, its just the waist that seems teenytiny.

ITA - May I just mention at this point something that has a great implication on the stars weights & measurements of this time. These stars grew up in a time where food was not as plentiful as it is today. Sugar was imported & therefore was rationed & difficult to obtain. This meant that diets comprised foods that we'd probably not think of eating today.

BB was beautiful as was Audry Hepburn & Sophia Loren; they were of another time and always remember to put on their underwear!!!!!

I did 3-D design at college & ended up getting sucked into the ergernomic side of things!!! Fascinating!

I sew a lot & have a lot of my mum's dress patterns from the 1950's & 60's - the sizes do change quite a lot when there is a re-size in the early 1970s. I also have lots of studies on historic dress & you can get patterns from them - OMG the dresses are tiny! Like a child's!
I'm 5'8" so am the size of an average bloke & hate trying to buy jeans in the UK coz they're always 3" (minimum) too short in the leg!

She was quite gorgeous in her youth. She kinda reminds me of Kate Moss, but more attractive of course.
