She was not always fat, you can see that in a few of the earlier pictures. I grew up in Detroit and Sister Re was definitely the queen of soul. She has a fantastic voice. Having said all that, I too agree she needs to cover all that up. She always seems to be wearing strapless dresses, a look which is terrible for anybody with huge boobs, but with huge arms and at her age is a downright crying shame.

Not to mention the longer hair, the older she gets!

I love Aretha, but ache for the pain she must be in to get that large. No one eats that much because they are hungry. They eat to dull the pain, or they drink to dull the pain, or they do drugs to dull the pain. Food is just a more visible manifistation of your problem.
If I can't be a good example, then let me be a horrible warning.

Hope she gets control before it's too late. I would say that she is a valid gastric bypass candidate, not these lazy bastards like Randy Jackson and Al Roker who somehow can't just eat less and work out. She's 63, so there are more issues to deal with.

Somebody call Oprah ..... we need an intervention here!

Seriously .... I'm embarrassed for her! Diabetes and/or a heart attack is right around the next hamburger.

Man this is really the first time I've seen Aretha looking so big. I mean I know I live in the Metro-Detroit area, but still I have'nt seen how big she got.

I think she does need an intervention. It's one thing if she was say..Queen Latifah's size, with some clothes and good makeup she'd be a knockout. But she's past that and looks morbidly obese, and there's no way you can dress it up. She needs gastric bypass for sure.

That's easy to say...that someone should just do that. But it's actually a pretty damned dangerous and risky surgery.

Personally, I'd do it. I've not even been close to this overweight, but having gained too much weight when pregnant and having taken over a year to lose it...and still struggling, I know that if I were that big, I'd be so miserable from the physical effects of being that big, not to mention the psychological that even if I did not (yet) have one of many serious health problems that people that size are at risk for I would definitely take a chance on the bypass. I'm not being a Julia Roberts here but I seriously would not want to live that huge. Forget vanity, I'd be physically miserable. I was physically uncomfortable every single day I was just 40# overweight. I cannot imagine how people that big function every single day.

But I can see how one would be scared to have a major surgery like that. Especially at her age and size. If she's gotten used to living that size then I guess that's better to her than possibly dying.

I agree with this. She doesn't look happy in her pictures, and in some of them, I think she seems embarrased about her situation. I think she is numbing herself with the only way she knows how: food. She may be a diva, but there is something else going on with her, and I feel incredibly sorry for her.

Yeah, she needs to stay away from the strapless dresses for sure. I haven't seen a photo of her in a long time, I didn't realize that she had gotten so big.

Poor thing, looks like she has given up. Must be some reason why she became this big - drugs, emotional issues, etc. She probably feels totally alone, probably IS alone - if she had friends why would they let her get like this and then let her go around wearing these things? Sad. I almost feel guilty for cracking up at all of the above horrendously mean comments! Almost.

Well, I've been shopping for a coffee table. Maybe I can use Aretha's tits.

You could lose up to the first or second knuckle in that fatty chest. My gawd.
