I shall always think of her as the voluptuous love interest in "The Rocketeer". It looks like you could break her in half now! She's lost twenty, maybe thirty pounds since then. Where'd her chest go!?
I saw a film today, oh boy.

Somewhere between "Inventing the Abbots" and "A Beautiful Mind" when her career seemed to have faltered a bit. Her dress just hung on her at the Oscar ceremony when she accepted her award.

This is the look that fat, middle-aged and male Hollywood executives have demanded of their female talent since the late 90s or so. Somehow, they think it makes these women "more fuckable" to the target male audience.

She and the others must look beyond sickly in real life and she must be miserable - chronic undereating is emotionally and of course, physically difficult.

Thing is, men like curves. They want some meat to hold on to and they like natural (not fake) full breasts. Why is Hollywood not getting this? And why did the thinnification trend start? Was it the high fashion world's skewed concept of body beauty?

It's a shame, because she used to be quite pretty.

In a word, yes. Celebrities started meshing w/ the fashion world. And they want to wear the newest, latest gowns, not ready-to-wear gowns. And in order to do that, they get the gowns straight off the runways, before they've gone into production. Those gowns are sample sizes. So the celebs that were able to fit into the sample sizes got the newest and latest gowns and more press. The ones who didn't were left behind, so they started losing weight to 'keep up.'

^^I'm really surprised some prominent Hollywood actress hasn't died yet. You would think that things might change but....those anorexia related deaths in the fashion world a few years ago did not do much to revise weight standards there. The lengths that some of these actresses go through to maintain extreme thinness has got to be downright dangerous.

When an emaciated actress (except for Cameron Diaz) says, "I've just got a fast metabolism", you know they're hiding an eating disorder.

OMG...she was just on Letterman. I was blown away when she
came on stage. She is seriously sick looking. Her face lost all
it's softness, she really was ugly looking.
