Farrell: 'Weight Loss Is Healthy'

Actor Colin Farrell has sparked fears for his health after he appeared at a press conference looking alarmingly gaunt. However, he insists he's merely losing weight for a film role.
Farrell, 31, shocked reporters when he showed up to promote his upcoming movie "Triage," in which he plays a war reporter in 1990s Bosnia, during a trip to Spain. (Photo)
He tells People.com, "I lost weight because my role demanded it. It was all very healthy."
The Irish actor did not elaborate as to how he lost the weight, instead quoting a line from the Scott Anderson novel on which the movie is based: "He went to the bathroom to shave. Once his beard was gone, he saw that his face had become drawn. He pressed at the hollows beneath his eyes, the pronounced nubs of his cheek bones."

I guess at this point he has addressed it, and I will just accept what he says unless or until something else shows otherwise. Glad he apparently is NOT ill or something.

God I hope he does not think he looks good like this!..

Well now as you mentioned the movie has wrapped, so we will see if he gains or not. I really hope it was just the movie and not drugs or illness.

He looks terrible & even if the weight loss is for a role.That is not healthy! I wish he would eat a sandwich or something because he just plain makes me eyes hurt!

I don't understand this situation. The way the article is worded it seems as if he's losing weight for a future role. Apparently that's why he's so thin at the press conference promoting Triage. Now exactly what role this is, I have no idea. Sounds to me as before that it's an excuse to cover for other problems.

I'm probably alone in this thought, but in the newest photo recently posted, he looks about 4-5 lbs. heavier than he did in recent pics of him taken at night, which is a good sign.

ITA, only I'd say he's about 10-12 lbs. heavier.

did anyone ever see the film "little buddha" that keanu reeves was in in the early 90s? i believe he fasted for 40+ days for the role.. he ended up having kidney failure or something like that from the weightloss
