Angelina Jolie Explains Why She Is So Thin

At the NYC premiere of A Mighty Heart Wednesday night, Jolie, 32, told reporters that the reason she’s been shedding pounds is because she’s been grieving over the death of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who died of ovarian cancer in January.

"I've always been lean and this year I lost my mom and I've gone through a lot,” said the actress, who is currently in New York with boyfriend Brad Pitt, 43, and their children, Maddox, 5, Pax, 3, Zahara, 2, and one-year-old Shiloh.

"I have four kids and I finished breastfeeding – it's been hard to get my nutrition back on track."

"Instead of people saying I look like a person dealing with something emotionally, they assume it's because I want to fit into skinny jeans."

She added, "Someone saying to me that I'm thin is not a compliment.”

I never thought of her to be particularly vain enough to be obsessed with weight, but if you are that concerned, drink protein shakes!

There are people who are naturally thin like her. When stressed or whatever, do lose weight. She has probably been a few pounds heavier and looks better. Well, it happen to some people. Naturally thin. Wait until she hits her 40's-some tend to gain weight then-tummy weight. Yeah, she can go get lipo.

Bullshit. She's vain, period. Her carreer is based on her looks and after the pregnancy she started starving herself. She already did that WHILE she was pregnant, which is fucked up.

I agree you can lose weight under stress. Have done it myself.

But if this woman has 4 kids to feed, she's around food frequently and if she's checking on their nutrition, she could eat something herself too. You can't help but be reminded it's mealtime when you're surrounded by hungry kids looking for food!

If she lived alone, I could see how she might "forget" to eat when under stress.

I don't remember her being really thin when she was pregnant. I remember her being kind of glowing and earth-mothery looking and nice and round.

I have really skinny arms and legs that remained really skinny through two pregnancies, but before I get caught up in an anti/pro-AJ discussion, I will bow out and watch this from the sidelines! Sorry, guys, this is one fight I'm not willing to take on.
