Exercise is always the key. There's no way around it. Heck I might even could live off 1000-1200 cals a day too if I didn't do much more than sit all day and never broke a sweat.

A woman needs at least 1500 per day just to sustain normal body function, including breathing and cardiac function.

When Aretha goes back to her beloved pigs feet and ribs, she's going blow up bigger than she was when she started.
She needs to get her weight under control for her health, not for some temporary goal like a wedding, otherwise she's going to yo-yo until her body gives out.

If she would scale back to the 2 racks of ribs instead of four and only half a dozen donuts instead of twelve, she would lose all that weight in no time.
How can people not realize they are becoming obese? When someone reaches 400 pounds and then says,"I thought it was time to do something about my weight." I am thinking,"Yea, at least one hundred pounds ago!"

Eeps! I exercise a lot, and I'm tall, but sweet merciful jeebus, I couldn't live off 1,000 calories a day. I'm at probably 2,500 - 3,000 calories a day right now (and my stomach is growling), and while I'm not losing anything, I'm not gaining either. My stomach is getting firmer
I eat pretty healthy, so the quantities I eat are very large. Oh my god, I feel like a big pig compared to you guys! How do you do it? I can't give up my food! I'll just have to keep exercising.
I feel bad for Aretha, being that big, but I really don't understand how she could let herself get to that point before dieting. Hopefully she'll adopt healthier habits.

^ I think I'd die on 1000 calories a day too. For weight loss maybe 1,500 a day is good plus some exercise for me
I wonder if she has lost any yet
