Claudia Schiffer defends skinny models

Catwalk beauty CLAUDIA SCHIFFER is the latest celebrity to wade into the row over super-skinny models, branding plans to ban them from runways "discrimination".

Last week (12FEB07) British beauty NAOMI CAMPBELL made her feelings known as she collected the Best Model accolade at the Elle Style Awards in London.

Campbell, 36, insisted it was wrong to blame the fashion industry for "a psychological disease" and refused to accept skeletal stars are the result of pressures from within the industry.

Now Schiffer has added her weight to the debate, maintaining svelte figures are not necessarily unnatural. She says, "It is wrong to discriminate against slim, healthy girls."

However, she concedes models with eating disorders are a big concern, adding, "Dieting is not the solution. A healthy life is."

It is wrong to discriminate against slim, healthy girls- Agreed Claudia, but hardly any supermodels look healthy at all

Discrimination?!?!?!? Really? How many non-skinny models do you see on the catwalks? Any model who isn't a skeleton has to Plus Size model.

exactly! She calls it discrimination, but the ones who are discriminated against the most (and have been for so long) are the ones who don't look like they're on the verge of death

Claudia Schiffer-wiffer's waist is about 23 in at most! She needs to shut the HELL up...if she didn't have big boobs and was 10 years younger she would have no objections. GROSS

I don't know, I think Claudia and most 90s supermodels were nowhere near as skinny as what passes for catwalk standard these days.
