nah, I don't think it's fair to point the finger at them, most of them are under tremendous pressure to conform to the skinny ideal, otherwise they'll literally lose their job, or movie roles or whatever to skinnier, prettier female celebs. So who's to blame? the media? society? when did this so-called 'ideal' started? who knows? fat or thin, we'll be forever weight-obsessed that's for certain

Good find teeyiu, thats shocking. Looks like she's in a restaurant - pretty ironic. I doubt she ate much there.
I hope she sees this shot, it's an unfortunate angle, but with most girls from that angle you would see more flesh, a crease in her stomach not something that resembles a fossilised ribcage.
On a side note I really like her hair.

I know but they are rolemodels to young girls. There are quite a few women who are bony that are popular..and successful.. oprah, whoppie goldberg..etc.. I am not sure what to say.. Sure the media has brought it up 50 notches..but there is no excuse for comforming to something like that..unless..you truly have a disorder..than that I can understand..I really do think she does..and Iunno with nicole..it seems like its more of an attention thing..I don't know..but kate is still unheard off..just seems odd that she keeps losing weight..and she keeps getting more attention. I hope kate does get well, and that the industry changes..but it will not unless her and others stand up for it, not just them but the public needs to say something.
I understand what you are saying. And I do not understand why no one is really speaking against this..that is famous..I don't get it.

I don't understand why people close to her - people who love her - don't do something. She's sick, that's pretty obvious

Oprah is rich and successful, but I bet you anything that she'll continue to have issues with her weight for the rest of her life, her weight is forever fluctuating. These young starlets become famous by being thin, like Nicole Richie for example, I had never heard of her until she lost all the weight (although I must say her fashion sense has improved drastically), and all the attention and popularity and magazine cover photo shoots etc., just perpetuate this need to be thin, but it's never solely just for the attention, it's very often coupled with low self-esteem and other factors in life.

Who says they're not? She's a grown-up, it's not like they can have her to sit down and eat dinner. She's screwed up and thinking she looks OK when as you said, it's pretty obvious she's not.
With Mary-Kate they got lucky because they had the chance to put her in rehab for anorexia just before she turned 18 and was legally adult.

That ribcage seems out of place on a person who lives and works
in a developed country.

Lucky Mary-Kate-
I wonder if Orlando Bloom broke up with her because of this. It would sure mean a great deal to me..

How on earth can anyone think that being this skinny is attractive? She is a really beautiful girl and would look soooo much better with a bit of meat on her. We watched Remember the Titans the other night on the BBC and I think she was in that - almost unrecogniseable as she was a pretty normal weight.
She is playing russian roulette with her health and you just hope that someone helps her before its too late.

Lack of personality and self-esteem issues. Her own weak head with a pea-sized brain is to blame.
"I ain't nothin' but beeeeeeeer and boooooones
Honey, since I lost you
I ain't ate a bite
Since the night
Thant you said 'we're throoooooooough'..."
(The title made me sing that... how dumb... Kate would be more like coke and bones).
