Default Bryce Dallas Howard walking off the baby weight

    Bryce Dallas Howard
    It Takes a Village

Four months after giving birth, "The Help" star Bryce Dallas Howard was spotted exercising her post-pregnancy legs on a walk with her adorable baby daughter Beatrice in L.A. this weekend.

The 31-year-old -- who also has a 5-year-old son with hubby Seth Gabel -- kept it casual on her mother-daughter afternoon excursion in a pair of comfy sweats and slippers.

Bryce -- who's currently nominated for an MTV Movie Award for "Best On-Screen Dirtbag" -- knows raising two kids is a total workout.

Wow- that really surprises me. Did she gain that much with her other (s)?
She seems to be naturally thin, so this is kind of a shock. And this is coming from me, a woman who packed on 55 pounds while pregnant-so no judgement, just curiosity.

Poor woman. She just had a kid 4 months ago, it's probably a vulnerable time for any woman, never mind one in Hollywood, and she seems to not be an attention whore, so I say leave her alone.

Using pregnancy as an excuse to gain a bunch of weight is unhealthy for mom and baby. I am/was a big girl and only gained 8 to 12 pounds with both pregnancies. I just ate healthy. Women who starve themselves their whole life then go nuts when they are pregnant make me sad. It isn't good to be too thin or too fat. Moderation people!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Some people do legitimately gain a lot, though. Different bodies have different needs. I didn't go bizonkers with eating and I still gained upwards of 50 lbs with both babies. Fortunately I managed to lose it again, but just because a woman gets big, we cannot simply assume she just sat around eating donuts all day.

I don't say this very often but get over yourself. Seriously.

Now doctors recommend that you gain between 25-35 lbs during your pregnancy. Yes, some people gain more or less. I ate fairly healthy both of my pregnancies and gain 35 with the first and 30 with the second. I've lost it all (#2 is 10 months old).

Anyone can go nuts during pregnancy and gain a lot, not just women who have starved themselves. BDH gained weight, who cares. I'm sure she'll lose it again and look great. Plus, we don't know if she has other medical conditions that could affect her weight during or post pregnancy.

    Hogwash.

    Placenta: about 2 pounds
    Amniotic fluid: 2 pounds
    Uterus: 2 pounds
    Blood volume increase: 4 pounds
    Tissue fluids increase: 4 pounds
    Increases in breast tissue: variable

And that's not even counting the minimum fat stores that are a normal part of pregnancy and weigh roughly the same as the baby.

8 to 12 pouds is NOT moderation.
