Cindy Crawford 'too healthy' for today's fashion industry

Original supermodel CINDY CRAWFORD is adamant she wouldn't have hit the bigtime if she was strutting the runways today - because she doesn't have the modern fashion world's ideal physique.
The American beauty was part of a select group of models who took the fashion industry by storm in the 1990s and became a celebrity in her own right.
Crawford was famed for her tanned, toned body and voluptuous curves - but she insists she wouldn't be hired by designers now because she looks too "healthy".
She tells German publication Bunte, "I would not have become a supermodel in 2009. I look too healthy.
"(Not with) a body like mine with big breasts, normal thighs and toned upper arms."

She happened to start modelling at a time when thin meant potential-aids-sufferer, a little more weight on models became fashionable then but it didn't last long

I remember her saying that back in the late eighties, too. She was in the right place at the right time for her look to be appreciated.

Ironically, the model that Crawford initially reminded everyone of when she burst onto the scene was Gia Carangi (who actually did have AIDS toward the end of her career). However, in Gia's prime, she was not skinny.

Today's fashion models look too emaciated for my liking. Cindy had a really nice figure then...still does. A woman with actual breasts and hips.

^^ She would. When you look at the early Calvin Klein ads, she wasn't that skinny. Kate Moss never looked malnourished.

I was watching a programme of E! today that said Gisele Bunchen(sp) was the return of the curvaceous model, after the waif era of Kate Moss.
I nearly shat myself...they've got to be kidding with that crap, right? Gisele is a curvy model...fucking, really?

I remember that, too. It drove me bonkers. The only thing curvy about Bunchen are her implants.

Yeah, I've always found it ridiculous. If you take away the implants, she's reed-thin. What curves?

Is she refering to now or back in her modelling heyday? I know a couple of people who saw her back then and described her as super-thin. She's put on a bit of weight since then (and looks great) but other than the 'curves' from her implants she WAS thin back then!
