Obese is the word: Recluse Travolta piles on the pounds

Back in 1977 he was effortlessly strutting his stuff on the dancefloor.
But John Travolta might find it a little harder these days to replicate the disco moves he made famous in the film Saturday Night Fever. And there's certainly no chance of him fitting into that famous white suit.
The 55-year-old actor looked almost unrecognisable during a rare outing in Miami this week.

Sporting a black baseball cap, handlebar moustache and a baggy black shirt, the once-athletic Grease star looked decidedly portly.

Bulkier: John Travolta seems to have piled on the pounds. The actor was spotted in Miami feasting on a cheeseburger and fries

And any thoughts of dieting seemed to be miles from his mind as he was seen feasting on a cheeseburger and a mammoth-sized portion of French fries.
One onlooker said: 'He definitely looks like he has succumbed to a little middle-aged spread. He is clearly not too bothered by it because he is still eating junk food.'
Travolta is said to have become a virtual recluse since the death of his 16-year-old son Jett, who died from a seizure during a holiday to the Bahamas in January.

Toned: John Travolta in 1983's Staying Alive and the hit 1978 film Grease

In his defense, many people are bigger at age 55 than they were in their early 20s. Lord knows I am.

I'm no Travolta fan, but for heaven's sake, comparing what someone was like 30 years ago is ridiculous...and he lost his son. Give him a break. I'd become a cheeseburger-eating recluse too if one of my children died.

Jeez! The guy just killed his son*, give him a break, he's obviously feeling the guilt

    * by association via lack of proper meds, care, etc.

Yeah, I agree. I don't really care for him, but I guess I can cut him a little slack for porking up in light of the year he's had so far.
