Re: Classic Hollywood Beaus
Yes, I read it here on another thread and here from IMDB...
On 16 April 1958 he entered the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital for a full face-lift and other cosmetic surgery by Dr John Converse, one of the leading plastic surgeons in America. Newspaper articles commenting on the effects of the operation said his face now looked quite different and the procedure had not been successful.

OMG, "movie geek" alert...I was trying to place his face today...he's been in a number of movies as a character actor - usually a Nazi or in a WW2 movie.
If you've ever seen "Life is Beautiful" (1997-with Roberto Benigni), you'd recognize him as the German Doctor Lessing, the Nazi who enjoyed riddles.
(I really am such a dork )

^ beautiful! I have that pic of him standing in front of the blue wall (also yellow in my pic on the lower half) framed a long with all kinds of other glamour shots of old stars like that. Men just dont dress like that anymore or present themselves that well. a shame.

I know! My heart just breaks when I think about Errol. How beautiful he was and how, apparently, self destructive that by the time he died at only 50, he looked about 80 and had the physical condition of an 80-90 year old.
His good friend David Niven wrote some chapters about Flynn's demise in at least one of his books. No matter what everybody tried, some people just seem hell-bent.

Yep, and he had a preference for (very) young girls. But it was his taste for alcohol that did him in. I remember Niven writing that the studio had forbidden Flynn to drink while making a movie. So, he had crates and crates of oranges delivered to the set, making everybody think he was serious about keeping clean while filming. Turned out he had pure wodka injected into the oranges!!!! Stuff like that. Niven wrote about the last time he met his friend, I think in Europe. He wrote that those big hands that once could fire a gun or an arrow perfect at a target were now shaking so badly that he kept spilling his drink Also that his nose was about twice the size it used to be, also because of the drinking. His kidneys and liver were shot, he had an enlarged heart..... such a waste.

Yep.
Here's a pic of his last birthday, 50, with his 17 year old girlfriend who was with him when he died a few months later.
His late son, Sean, who died in the sixties I believe, was quite a looker, too:
