The Kennedy women don't age well. Have you seen her Aunt Eunice (Maria Shriver's mom)?

This mummified fate seems likely for Caroline too. Sunscreen on that Irish skin ladies!

^^Penny, that's actually Ethel Kennedy, who was married to Robert Kennedy and therefore not a blood relation.

(I misspoke in my original post and must have been editing when you were off hunting for photos)

Obama should make Sarah Palin or Ann Coulter the ambassador. That'll teach the Vatican to stay out of matters that don't concern them.

So ironic that John-John (RIP), may have been the prettiest Kennedy. And he was a guy.

^^Caroline was pretty in her youth. There are some really attractive pictures of her from her Harvard years. She's got such a horsey mouth though.

I thought she looked quite lovely on her wedding day. I'll always like her and respect her for keeping her head up despite all that she has lost.

all receiving countries have a say in who the ambassador is, and have to be approved. the US does the same when other countries appoint an ambassador to washington.
the holy see is a typical 'thanks for your support' posting. but it's usually reserved for much older people on the verge of retirement because frankly, there really isn't anything to do. the ambassador to italy handles all the political, bilateral stuff with italy, and the one to the vatican just basically goes to cocktail parties and ceremonies and masses and gets to kiss the pope's ring.
