I guess where Jamie and I live (the Bible belt) religion does unite us.

But isn't saying Christianity can unite people just at ad exclusionary? As someone already said, what about the many other religions that may be practiced in your community? Tough tittie for them?

I'm in the bible belt right now actually, as someone who happens to be of another religion, I'm failing to see the unity.

You have unity in your religion don't you?
I wasn't saying EVERYONE in the WHOLE world is united.

Yep, once I accept Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior and renounce my Jewish, leftist, pro-choice, pro-gay marriage ways I too will be part of the "us" as opposed to the heathen "them".

Nor have I. I think America and Iraq are two countries where we can see religion acting as a divider rather than a uniter.

I was born Jewish, can't do much about that really. I might not practice, but culturally, it's still part of my identity.

I'm just really glad my parents had enough of religion when I was very young. All my siblings had the whole religious upbringing and I can't see where it did them any good or made them better people. Thank god I was the oops child.

Why would anybody be in a religion for the sense of exclusivity?

    Oh wait.
