    Ok, missing the POINT.

The POINT is that, in that scenario, it has nothing to do with ME.

You're complicating things. Look at your original statement. Your original statement has nothing to do with outside forces, or whose choice it is, or any of that stuff.

Your original statement was basically, if it doesn't have anything to do with you, Mind Your Own Business.

To a degree, I agree with this statement. As far as abortion is concerned.

    To a degree, though.

My original statement is not meant to be taken out of context. The context is the couch on which that statement sits. Without said context, that statement is as simple as you say it is, but your point also becomes irrelevant.

The discussion at hand has context and it was said in that context.

Ok, point taken, but your original statement was actually in the form of a question. It has been answered time & again on this thread. You just don't or won't understand that some people see things differently than you, so you discard their reasoning, and keep repeating the same question.

My thinking is that, since the question has been asked & answered over & over, let's examine the question. The question on its own, as I stated IMO, is absurd.

The context is the couch on which that statement sits.
I must say that I really like this metaphor.

The question is not meant to be taken alone, so your point is irrelevant.

In the context of the discussion at hand, given that the context is ABORTION (cue scary music) if it doesn't concern you personally, what business is it of yours what people do with their bodies?

I'll come back later when I'm not as confused. If I eat lunch, get a little protein, I think I'll understand what you two are talking about...

Son of a bitch, I typed this long profound response, and hit some crazy key on my keyboard and *poof* it disappeared.

(Son of a bitch was not directed at you. It's meant as a general curse.)

Anywho, my point is not irrelevant.

It was not clear that your question was specific to this topic. Seriously. People use larger philosophical constructs all the time as evidence to be applied to specific situations. If I was a stalker (which I was accused of being by one Nameless Banned Person) I could find posts of yours that paint a lovely illustration of this.

So that's not what you meant, & that's now clear.

However, the answer to the question has been posted over & over & over & over...........

You just don't accept the answer.

What's the question, Lobelia? What was the answer? Why was that answer problematic? Forgive me for asking you to do the work for me, but I've gotten a little lost in what seems like to have been a debate about semantics in the end??

    Oy! I should go eat...

No, I have yet to see a concrete answer that gives you a direct, incontrovertible, quantifiable, fact based, signed, sealed and notarized authority to control what another person does with their own body.

WickedHo, it is TOTALLY about semantics.

A variation of the question is: why should you (hypothetical) be concerned about it, if it has nothing to do with you, and it's someone else's body?

A variation of the answer: because I (hypothetical) see abortion as murder, and I (hypothetical) think it is just as wrong as murder. I (hypothetical) can't/won't turn a blind eye to murder because it's wrong.

No, I have yet to see a concrete answer that gives you a direct, incontrovertible, quantifiable, fact based, signed, sealed and notarized authority to control what another person does with their own body.
You're right. And I can't give you an answer that provides the above criteria for why you shouldn't murder your neighbor, either. In both cases, a life is being killed - there's a killer and a killee - and neither have anything to do with me. However, I have opinions on them both.

Yes, it is, which is one of the weird factors in this whole business. It boggles my mind.

I guess it all comes down to this: If it's all life, then somebody's got to go. Life feeds on life. You gotta have top feeders & bottom feeders.

People can't seem to come to a consensus on who/what goes in which group.
