I'll give her 2 weeks to be overdue. That is within the bounds of normal. Although nowadays they usually don't let you go too long. After that I call bullshit on baby's due date.
If I can't be a good example, then let me be a horrible warning.

I thought they only let you go 1 week beyond the due date. After that they induce.

Interesting how she says it's a boy then calls him an "it". Ms. Pro-life surprised me.

I was 2 weeks overdue and they didn't induce me. That was in 1974. Now they only let you go a week unless you insist on waiting, or your "water level" goes down.

It can go at least two weeks longer. It happened with my coworker's child. Beyond a certain point, you have to induce because the placenta breaks down and is no longer able to support the fetus.

Being up to 2 weeks late is considered quite normal for a first child, though we that might not apply in this situation.

2 weeks over Due Date is quite normal and I doubt she'll be induced unless there's some kind of problem. Pregnancy is calculated as 40 weeks from the first day of your last period but they factor in + or - 2 weeks either side of that date because you can't be precise when you conceived. My first child was a week "late" and my second the same and I was only induced the second time because it was very near Christmas and I wanted to be home with the baby for the holidays.

They induce a late pregnancy more often now because too many preggo broads gain a shit-ton of weight to begin with, making a later due date risker than before. That and OB's are more overworked and thus more willing to do things like scheduled inductions and C-Sections for their own convenience if the mom even whines a tiny bit.

From the files of conversations with mom: Back in the 70's docs were more strict and by-the-book. Twenty pounds tops, maybe 25 if you were 5'6" or taller. After that, they'd matter-of-fact tell you you were getting too fat and it wasn't good for you or especially the baby and put your ass on a diet.

Oh...almost forgot this thread was about Bristol. No wedding yet? Imagine that....
