We don't have a collision government, like almost every other democracy, where other parties can be represented in gov't based on their percentage of the vote.

The 2 party system is so corruptible and sad.

The Green Party has been gradually gaining strength in the past 10 years. It's still small, but it's still growing.

amen. I would have loved to have had a third party candidate to vote for this time around that I liked. The choices are becoming slimmer and slimmer with each election re: all candidates it seems to me.

They could unknowingly be weeding themselves out a la natural selection (a theory they probably don't believe in because ZOMG Darwin IZ EVIL!). Let the moderates jump ship and the GOP can go the way of the Whigs.

That comparison isn't so strange actually. The Whig Party fractured over slavery. The Republican party could/is fracturing over religion, abortion, and if the Bush Administration is actually investigated for torture, they could fracture over that.

I understand why BO is welcoming him to the Blue Party. But I still would prefer a real democrat such as Congressman Joe Sestak, a former 3* Naval Admiral, presently in the House, who was set to announce a run at Spector's senate seat.
