I seriously don't see the harm in 18 months worth of help for new mothers, so they can finish school, learn a skill or whatever. Everybody could use a little help now and then, especially with the cost of food and heating oil these days.
Tell this to the drug dealers that live on prime waterfront property near my office that haven't worked in years, that have free waterfront access.
And I have no problem with helping people that help themselves first.
And in NC everytime you have a child your food stamps and your monthly welfare is raised. They don't expect you to raise 3 children on the income that you would one child.
Sorry, I don't agree with giving anyone anything, for any amount of time just, because they are lazy or because they got pregnant. It has become a lifestyle for some and it's only going to get worse since they can now scream "the economy is bad, I can't get a job." Bullshit, they can seem to live in housing and habitat homes, yet drive around in Lincolns with rims, all while my tax dollars feed their dumbass rugrats that won't yield for a car, you know, because they are entitled and own every thing.

Sounds more like a Southern lifestyle problem to me. Norway gives mothers & fathers time off for new babies and lots of benefits. Norwegians aren't lazy.

^ Most mothers around here take time off, a couple months, when they have a child. That's different than someone that just refuses to work, which are the one's I am talking about.

^Since the South never seems to put education first, they never grab these kids when they're young to point them in another direction.

And you are basing this opinion on what? A stereotypical belief that all southerners are stupid?

    ^ That's funny.
I didn't know all southern's were uneducated. I guess they only teach that in the rest of the world.

BTW, there are lazy deadbeat mother's everywhere, or there wouldn't be an issue concerning Palin cutting of programs.

No, more like rankings that place them at the bottom on money spent for teachers, education and such.
