Actually, that's not as incorrect as you'd like to make it out to be. There are plenty of Arabs in Afghanistan. Those from Saudi Arabai, Yemen, UAE, etc. Most Al-Qaeda members speak Arabic since that's what their leadership speaks, and they are the ones the US military would be interested in interrogating.

Regardless of all the other stuff in this thread - have to say this is a common misconception ... having been around campaigns and politicians for quite a while (and with a couple of press secretaries in my family) I can tell you that politicians absolutely DO read prepared speeches directly from the side view prompters.

There is a guy running the prompter who is scrolling the text of the speech across the plate in order to compensate for crowd reaction and the speakers own mistakes. Most of the time Teleprompters are used to help the candidate stay on message and avoid ad libs that can lead to unwanted gaffes.

This is true for both Repubs and Dems, so it isn't meant to favor anyone.

    ^Thanks for pointing that out.

Someone on SodaHead (yet again) said it was 'refreshing' to see someone [referencing Palin] who doesn't need a teleprompter, and how Obama was 'lost' without out one. I was like bitch shut up.

^ Palin reads her speeches from a printout which is most likely typed in extended "talking points" that lead her from hit point to hit point - which is why she usually is heard repeating lines she has said before - because she remembers them and repeats them from an earlier speech (usually from the one she gave at the RNC convention. )

^ its a little more complicated than that, but that is the jist of it, yes.

You gotta be wary of that with Palin though, it could all be a Repub rope-a-dope ... getting her ready for the Biden debate so people downgrade her and expect nothing from her in the debate ... then prepare and coach her with a bunch of new stuff to lull Biden into a mode to expect less, then get hammered and embarrassed by bringing more.

Bush did the same kinda thing to Gore and Kerry.

I don't think it'll work. She'll be caught off guard eventually. Being programmed will only work for so long. Obama/Biden can think on their heads at any given time, from what I've seen.

    6 MORE DAYS.
