Hmm. AP also reports she "unlawfully" abused her power.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A legislative committee investigating Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has found she unlawfully abused her authority in firing the state's public safety commissioner.
The investigative report concludes that a family grudge wasn't the sole reason for firing Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan but says it likely was a contributing factor.
The Republican vice presidential nominee has been accused of firing a commissioner to settle a family dispute. Palin supporters have called the investigation politically motivated.

I'd like to know is this enough to recall or to impeach her? Its an abuse of power that she committed.

Probably not since he serves at the request/whim of the governor.

I think in Alaska the citizens can petition to have the governor recalled. This is something that may happen early next year.

It says that she violated a statue of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Also says it was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority.

So did she break a law or not?

I think technically she has- but the report doesnt confirm it. I bet the McCain Camp weighed in heavily to do that but looking into the details she's toast as in morally bankrupt.

Perhaps it'll be up to the full legislature to decide that one. I'm still reading the report.

    From CNN:

Palin had the authority as governor to fire him, the report by former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower states.

However, it states that her efforts to get Wooten fired broke a state ethics law that bars public officials from pursuing personal interest through official action.

It looks like she has violated this law so she has technically broken or violated statute legislation.

Here's some comments on the Anchorage Daily News article:

Now THIS is open and transparant government. Sarah, take notes on how it's done.

Please...please...make Sarah and the family come home. The State is going to end up a wreck politically. She won't be the next Vice-President and she is burning ALL of her bridges as Governor. She has lost all of her credibility and faces impeachment, We all deserve better. Sarah has failed us.

Sarah Palin; Bad for America. Bad for Alaska.
Palin exposing the "Third Wave" and their attempt to have a Manchurian candidate in the White House to bring on the End of Times should be shocking enough for the world to take a collective gasp and stamp out these religious freaks, once and forever.
David Brooks, Republican shill has said, "Sarah Palin is a cancer on the Republican party."
Sarah Palin is a cancer on the world and needs to be dealt with accordingly!

We need to recall Sarah and Sarah needs to put a leash on Todd. No, better yet one of those electric shock collars. I am enraged the more I read of what Todd has done.

But the point is SARAH ABUSED HER POWER!!!!!! Get rid of her, now.

    Very interesting reading.

So Todd uses the Governor's office whenever he feels like it for meetings or what?

The Palin's and their holier than thou attitudes make me sick.
KiwisCanFly wrote on 10/10/2008 04:36:01 PM:
The Palin's have trouble seperating their personal life from their professional.
Monegan can make a civil case. This will cost taxpayers. Don't blame Monegan if he does. Palin has violated the trust of her public office. Maybe even Wooten can sue too. What a mess. What an incompetent Sarah Palin is.

it doesnt recommend criminal charges being filed.

So she broke the law but nothing will happen.

^Because she broke an ethics law not a criminal one. I do think this will make her toast in Alaska though. She can't claim the high ground any longer particularly when she can't rein in her husband giving directions to all sorts of folks.

Another thing along with McCain backing down on Obama's character- and with this playing on the MSM. The heat is on the McCain's camp and they need to defend themselves against this they cant deflect using Ayers or any other similar smears.
