But, that being said, I don't think the President should think he's above speaking to a talk show host either. Hell, if Michelle can stoop down to shoveling food to unknowns, then Obama should be able to talk to a well known man.

And no one mentioned Bush. Bush was an idiot, plain and simple.
Obama doesn't have to blow Rush's theories to bits. Rush is doing a good enough job of that himself. Besides, the president is the most powerful man on the planet, if he opts to debate a radio talk show host then he's elevating that talk show host to more political power and recognition.

And I mentioned Bush to show that no president needs to debate somebody who disagrees with them. Moore made a movie that lambasted Bush, and they didn't debate. All Rush has done is rip Obama on the radio and at CPAC.

And what does Michelle doing charity work, like all First Ladies do, have to do with Obama and Rush debating?

If Rush was doing a good job of looking stupid then there wouldn't be a whole party behind him right now. I am not saying Obama needs to debate Rush, but I think a call to his morning show would be funny. If Obama is so secure in his policies and all what would it hurt?

And I wasn't putting down Michelle, nor was I saying her charity work had anything to do with debating. I was just stating that if she can get her hands dirty, so can her little man of a husband.

As for Bush debating.....come on. That man can't even open a door, much less debate.

That party is comprised of fucking morons. That's why it's funny. Morons following another moron. They're too stupid to realize he's driving them off a cliff.

I think the fact that Obama is pushing his policies to Congress and the American people shows that he's secure with them. Not to mention, Obama made it a point to go into counties in Indiana & Florida that didn't vote for him to push his policies, which he wouldn't have done if he wasn't secure with them.

Limbaugh doesn't have any real political power to create policy, so why should Obama talk to him. And the GOP is sinking like the Titanic and Rush is the iceberg that's taking it down. So, they can all follow him if they want to.

And I didn't think you were putting down Michelle's charity work.

Like Kathy said, a debate between Bush and Moore would've been funny.

ANd I don't like this hysteria as you call it, but I like even less how those who are supposed to be representing the people, aren't. I'm not happy with any of them, I want them to do a better job, and listen to their constituents.
You really need to brush up on your knowledge of congressional procedures. There were more people than just "Pelosi and Reid" in the conference committee reconciling the House and Senate bills. The bill that came out of conference didn't change so drastically from what the House or Senate voted on, which were bills the entire membership DID have time to read.

The only reason Republicans want Obama to debate Rush is so their ideas will be seen as having merit, which they don't. The GOP knows that the longer they let Rush own their asses the worse they're going to do in 2010 elections. Rush only appeals to hard-core "conservatives." He doesn't appeal to women, minorities or independents. Repubs want Obama to do their own work for them--which is to tell Rush to shut up--because no one in that party has the balls to do it themselves.

There isn't a "whole party" behind Rush. Lots of Republicans despise Rush and what he's doing to their party. Why should the POTUS waste his time on this nutjob when he has plenty of more important things to be doing?

No, slapping Rush is not important. He's slapping himself.

You seem to be ignoring the benefit/cost ratio with doing such a thing.

^ Picking up a phone and calling to say"what does the five fingers say to the face" doesn't cost anything.

Oh well, it's not like it would happen anyway.

I'v said a couple of things before that I'll repeat...

I saw Obama speak from about 20 ft. away for over an hour and a half in Bozeman, Montana (one of his last big speeches before securing the nomination) and there was not only no teleprompter, but there wasn't even a podium for notes. I don't get how using a teleprompter is some sort of diss except to maybe point out that Obama can read and speak (which would be in stark contrast to his predecesser).

Second, I don't know how I got sucked in again, but it serves no purpose to "debate" chattykathy. There is conservative thought (which I respect), neo-cons (which is lunacy) and then there's this whole level who don't even have any concept of the basic function of the gov't, the simple saturday morning cartoon civics lessons of how a bill becomes a law.

Obama is trying to stop the economy from completely tanking because of the failing banks, failing auto industry, the failing housing market and rising unemployment. Plus, deal with global warming, healthcare and education. Not to mention dealing with two wars, and all of the other leftover baggage from the Bush years. He's been 'multitasking' since he came into office less than 2 months ago.
