Move to Australia - we never had a recession. The economy is strong and jobs are up. This will change if our Labour govt is re-elected on 21 August.

If it weren't for those goddamned people-eating spiders, I'd move there.

I don't recall you posting that, but we do have jobs here. My neighbor went to a Job Fair & there were tour groups of teachers applying here. From, she said, New York! She was so shocked she decided to keep her old teaching job.

I blame Steve Fucking Irwin for telling the world that Australia is seething with deadly spiders, and I know you won't believe me, but we don't have any more spiders than the US and while a few of them can give you a nasty nip the majority are perfectly harmless and shy. You just don't see them most of the time. Same thing with snakes - yes we have poisonous snakes but they live out in the bush and again, you seldom see them. America has poisonous snakes too but I don't hear people saying "oh I'd never live in Texas because of the rattlers".

If you DO find a spider in the bath tub, do what we do and empty a can of Mortein on the little fucker.

2.4% INCREASE in GDP isn't great, but it is better than a declining GDP. Some amount of slowdown in the rate of growth is expected as the stimulus winds down - but we are far better off than we were 18 months ago.

McJag, I have lived in Texas, know all about the heat, in fact it nearly killed me, ended up in the hospital with a heat stroke.

*faints* I'd shriek my lungs out and have a hell of a time stepping into a shower for several days if I ever found THAT in my shower.

We all have our creepy critters.

There are only two other countries in the world I would live beside the USA, Australia and Canada. Oz has spiders, Canada has Grimm, I have a shoe.

Huntsmen and Grimm are very similar - big and scary but actually quite harmless.

It's funny how different parts of the country are affected. I have several friends here who own companies and are having a hard time finding good, qualified candidated for management positions. I also do not personally know one person who was laid off. I have a few clients who lost their jobs but it was not due to lay-offs.

3 other people i know were laid off, and this is in Canada.. we weathered the crash better than most, but everybody I know knows someone who lost their job.

I can only imagine wtf it's like in the US

Same here. Of course, that is not Big Scary News. I know it does happen and has happened to several on here. And Grimm in Canada.
But you would think we are all going to end up starving in the streets.
