Before I sign, I want to just note the people who are on the stage with me. In addition to our outstanding Secretary of Energy, Secretary Chu; we also have Dr. Patricia Bath; we have Dr. H. Robert Horvitz; we have Dr. Janet Rowley; Dr. Harold Varmus, who's going to be the co-chair of my President's Council on Science; we've got Dr. Michael Bishop; and we also have Dr. Peter Agre. So these are an example of the outstanding scientists who we hope will guide us through this process in the years to come.
Isn't it great to have a President who listens to smart and accomplished scientists?

that's like quoting FOX news and expecting it to be factual!

In all seriousness, I'm glad that we have a president that has common sense, and uses it. Thank God... I'm no longer ashamed to be an American, thanks to president Obama. I hope many people can make good recoveries, because of this.
I just watched that the other day! Never fails to amuse me.

I was so excited after hearing this. My republican parents are even backing this up.

Quoting the family research council is like quoting Bush. They're a right wing christian fundie nonsense group.

They wouldn't know hard science if it shat on their head.

Sorry guys, it is well known that it's been known to cause mutations and tumors. To argue otherwise is just being bullheaded.

    Sorry, it is.

And I don't care either way. If stem cells can help save a life I say GO FOR IT.

You know, even if this is true there is still a lot to learn from the research.

I agree. I think they should move forward with it. But to say there haven't been side effects is just ignorant.

Those side effects where pretty severe. So far, the adult stem cells haven't had those sort of problems, so they should try more research with those.

Embryonic stem cells can turn into tumors and the like. That does NOT mean they will. It's just like many people today can have cancer. It does not mean they will have cancer. Two completely different things.

The point was they "can" turn in to tumors. And if something can turn, most of the time you have a percentage that "will".

Nice try at a play on words though. A for effort.
