A no brainer choice, really, a former plagiarist with bad hair transplants, what more could you ask for? But really, it's a smart and not risky choice for Barrack, a Caucasican male politician.

I actually think Huckabee isn't an off the wall pick for McCain. He has the southern vote, which McCain (who is too liberal) will not get otherwise. But since everyone generally ignores the south, I think McCain will probably go for the sympathy vote and pick a woman or possibly a minority...like Mel Martinez, the R Senator from Florida is an unknown, but would give him both southern and minority cred.

I'm from Minnesota. Gov.Pawlenty hasn't been here in ages. He's been chasing this nomination HARD for a long time. That coupled with the fact that the RNC Convention will be here...come on. Pawlenty is going to the the nom. Its a great story. Hometown boy makes good - in his hometown. Its great theatre, and politics are all theatre.

That said...I hope Obama/Biden win in a landslide.

Obama had no choice but to pick a white male. He couldn't pick a woman or another minority. And if the worst thing people can say about Biden, who brings loads of experience to the table, is that he stole parts of a speech 20 years ago then that's okay.

If McCain picks Colin Powell, I pray that Mr. Powell is smart enough to say NO!

Nope. Its going to be one of these:

Sarah Palin, gov. of Alaska: she arrived in Dayton tonight and rumor is McCain staffers in Dayton have been told its her.

Mitt Romney: he is also planning to be in Dayton tomorrow (arrived tonight).

I will be STOKED if its Palin. Young, smart and represents the future of the Republican party. She also went after big oil in Alaska.

Not true. Palin arrived by private jet in Ohio a few hours ago. And Mitt Romney is already in Ohio. Pawlenty has stated himself tonight that he is out of the running. Could it be a ruse? Maybe. But his camp says he has no plans to be in Ohio tomorrow.

Well what do they know! The blogsphere knew Biden was the pick before they did.

Here's the Palin deal: a gulfstream jet left Anchorage Airport today and arrive in Middleton, OH at 10:10pm tonight. This same jet left Anchorage on Aug 27 and arrived in Sedona, AZ, the closest airport to where McCain was meeting with his advisers on a VP pick.

Now it could be a huge coinkydink. But seriously, how many private jets leave Alaska and fly to Middleton, OH in a given day? It will be a waiting game, but an exciting one! Palin has been my favorite potential VP pick.

Romney was schedule to speak in OH for McCain anyway, so he may be there for just that.

    We'll know tomorrow morning!

Next week, though there is talk that if Gustav heads for N.O, they will postpone the convention. His VP will be announced tomorrow morning.

The only reasons I could see McCain picking a woman is to try and scoop up some of those irate PUMAS, and to try and offset the fact that the Dems have Obama.
