I think any public school teacher who refuses to show this should be suspended. It's a public school--they are public servants. The private schools can decide on their own if they want to shelter their kids from thinking.

This makes me sad and ashamed of our country.

Yeah, that'll help.

Better yet, why not just homeschool all kids so they never have to hear any opinions other than their parents, or risk learning more than their parents know and are able to teach them?
    Stop making sense!

Guess all the kiddies will have to call in sick and pretend to get swine flu instead!

Some more food for thought. This is from another forum I frequent:

"JFK challenged us, as a nation, to land a man on the moon and return him safely home within 10 years. 8 years and 2 months later, we succeeded. That's common knowledge. What isn't common knowledge, however, is that the average age of the engineers who worked on Apollo 11 was 26. At the time of the challenge, those engineers were 18 - seniors in high school. It's completely appropriate for the president to challenge the next generation."

Just sit and think about that for awhile.

And here's another thought. Despite the last 16 years or so of political bullshit, I still believe that there are many, many common principles that nearly all Americans accept and aspire to. They aren't Republican or Democrat values, they are American values.

I would have no problem with Bush, Cheney, Obama, Rush Limbaugh, Michele Bachmann or anyone going into my kids' school and talking to them about the importance of:

    Education
Taking responsibility for yourself and your family
    Caring for the environment
Innovation and the generation of new ideas
    Freedom of speech
    etc.

There are still core values that nearly all of us share, both here in the US and with members of other civilized societies.

I am sorry--I am just deeply offended by this whole pile of bullshit perpetrated by Fox News et al.

They probably think Obama's going to convert the 'tea-cup humans' into socialists.

I've heard that A. each teacher will decide whether or not they want this broadcast in their classrooms and that B. a study hall class will be available for children (with notes from their parents) who will not be participating.

This shit should be a non issue. Not even a blip. We should remove all government from schools, have written permission to take history classes, fuck let's just close the schools.

The racism against this administration is so blatant. It is coming from the same people who said we were unpatriotic if we questioned Bush's wars. Now they want their kids to question Obama challenging them to be better people. That sure says a lot about their character.

George HW Bush did an address to kids when he was prez. I don't think people were in an uproar about it back then.

Jeezus, can't we find more important issues to worry about? What - parents think he's going to push healthcare reform on the mighty little children? Have them march on the playground to further the efforts to pull the troops out of Iraq?

Fuck, I'll send my son to school and have him ask for a dvd of the damn thing when it's over.
