I did not vote for McCain, but I was very proud of how he conducted himself last night. That was one of the classiest and most sincere sounding concession speeches I've ever heard.

    Washingtonpost has Indiana as Barack's.

They are posting 349 to 163, Obama.

    Crazy.

Sadly, the gays are going to face a long uphill battle. Conservatives and liberals across the country oppose gay marriage. Some of the seemingly most liberal people I know are vehemently opposed to homosexual marriage and adoption.

I don't consider myself a "liberal" but even I'm not opposed to that.

Well, there is some good news. The normally redder than hell state of Colorado has elected its first openly gay official, Congressman-Elect Jared Polis.

I don't consider myself liberal or conservative. I truly am right in the middle.

I know people can change. I have.

If I may hijack the thread for just a second:

I was vocally opposed to gay marriage, which can be seen in some of my older posts. Over the last few weeks, I have listened to the other side, including the eloquent and honest posts from gay people here on the board. I never thought I would ever think of supporting gay marriage, but now, I can't see myself supporting oppression and the disregard for someone's civil rights, especially one based on the most precious of human emotions. Love.

This is why I support open discussion. Yes, the debates get heated and people get pissed, but if even one mind can be changed, isn't it worth it?

Himself yes, but his supporters are assholes. All the booing whenever Obama's name was mentioned was pathetic. Even with the thousands of people in Grant Park you didn't hear anyone booing McCain during Obama's speech-and McCain conducted himself in a far worse manner during the entire length of the campaign.

Also, it kind of made me laugh that Sarah Palin looked like she was fighting to keep herself from crying, you could see it in her eyes.

Yeah, I was checking out the comments on Media TakeOut and disappointed to see how supportive most of them were of passing Prop8. This after they just went on and on about how great it is for equality and progress that Obama got elected. There is still a lot of people of all creeds and colors who oppose homosexuality, but the black community seems particularly conservative on this issue. Perhaps that is because of the role of Christianity/religion in their community. Do you agree?
