He seems to think that it's like a condom or viagra - per intercourse usage. It's fairly unbelievable that in 2012 that someone who would rant or try to legislate birth control would simply not even know what it was.

Well, I wouldn't shed any tears, that's for sure. I just wish that with all the rumors over the years about Rush and underage boys that someone would uncover some documentation. I'd rather see him alive and shamed and deserted by his supporters than dead, really. Though I bet by now he has amassed such a huge fortune that he will never be destitute.

He's married, isn't he? Like maybe on his third marriage? I hope his wife beats him up, actually.

I'm sure he knows better than that. He pretends to be even stupider than he is, which is even more infuriating.

Update on some very good news:
"Due to Rush Limbaugh's continued inflammatory comments — along with the valuable feedback we have received from our clients and team members — Quicken Loans has suspended all advertising on The Rush Limbaugh radio program," a Quicken Loans spokeswoman said Friday in an email.

The move is effective immediately, the Quicken Loans spokeswoman said.

Sleep Train Mattress Centers announced earlier on Friday on its Twitter account that it pulled its ads. "We don't condone negative comments directed toward any group," the company said.

Mattress company Sleep Number reportedly followed suit.
Edited to add that I feel like a knucklehead (which is not an uncommon feeling for me) for not checking into the Domino's sponsorship a little more thoroughly. Apparently they haven't advertised on his show in at least 6 months. And here is what long-time advertiser Carbonite has said:

A Message from Carbonite CEO, David Friend Regarding Ads on Limbaugh
Over the past two days we have received a tremendous amount of feedback on Rush Limbaugh’s recent comments. I too am offended and very concerned about his comments. Limbaugh’s remarks have us rethinking our future use of talk radio.
We use more than 40 talk show hosts to help get the Carbonite message out to the public. The nature of talk radio is that from time to time listeners are offended by a host and ask that we pull our advertising. This goes for conservatives like Limbaugh and progressives like Stephanie Miller and Ed Shultz. We even get customers who demand that we pull the plug on NPR. As an advertiser, we do not have control over a show’s editorial content or what they say on air. Carbonite does not endorse the opinions of the shows or their hosts.
However, the outcry over Limbaugh is the worst we’ve ever seen. I have scheduled a face-to-face meeting next week with Limbaugh during which I will impress upon him that his comments were offensive to many of our customers and employees alike.
Please know your voice has been heard and that we are taking this matter very seriously.
    Sincerely,
    David Friend

I hate Imus with a passion now and I can't believe he pretty much got away with what he said. Each one of those girls on that team is worth 10 of him and I bet in his heart he knows it.

Ugh. Who pays these people millions of dollars?

Imus is not really aligned with a political group, so when he screwed up, he was twisting in the wind. And that is not to defend Imus - he's an a-hole.

Limbaugh, however, is hugely popular in the Republican party, and is considered both an opinion leader and kingmaker. And that is coupled with the fact that Limbaugh can get on the air and retaliate against, and basically verbally blast Republicans who he differs with or who denounce him (Michael Steele would be a good example). He has done this countless times. So, in the past, he has gotten away with his antics because 1) a large part of the base agree with him or 2) are afraid of publicly going against him.

I am really hoping that this is the watershed moment where he has dramatically overplayed his hand. Limbaugh is like the id of the Republican party. For him to apologize for this would be a mortal blow to his prestige and standing. So, it will be interesting to see what happens on Monday, when his program is back on the air live.

BREAKING: Rush Limbaugh Apologizes To Sandra Fluke | ThinkProgress

"For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke.

I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit? In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.

My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices."

    -------------------

That's not an apology - that's fear from sponsors leaving and Sandra Fluke talking lawsuit. He's still misrepresenting what she said - the need many woman have for hormonal birth control for medical reasons unrelated to sex. She also never said anything about Rush, or Bill O'Reilly, or anybody else paying her health insurance premiums or prescription drug coverage. I hope people still pressure his sponsors (enablers) to drop his show and I hope she does go through with that suit.

I'm shocked he apologized but fuck, he's still so fucking stupid. First, the congressional panel was susposedly about 'religious feeedom', right? Secondly, Fluke was testifying about the need for birth control for a non-sexual related issue. At no time was anyone discussing their sex lives before congress. What a dumb ass.
Baby, by the time you have kids and they're in school, no one will care about you.

Sixth Advertiser -- Carbonite -- Drops Limbaugh Despite His

Sixth Advertiser — Carbonite — Drops Limbaugh Despite His ‘Apology’ Because He’s Beyond The ‘Bounds Of Decency’
By Faiz Shakir on Mar 3, 2012 at 7:57 pm

Moments ago, Carbonite – a company providing backup software for computers – announced that it will no longer advertise on Rush Limbaugh’s show. CEO David Friend made clear in a Facebook statement that, despite Limbaugh’s “apology” issued tonight, the company was still pulling its ads because it wants to “contribute to a more civilized public discourse”:

No one with daughters the age of Sandra Fluke, and I have two, could possibly abide the insult and abuse heaped upon this courageous and well-intentioned young lady. Mr. Limbaugh, with his highly personal attacks on Miss Fluke, overstepped any reasonable bounds of decency. Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.

Indeed, evidencing the point made by Friend, Limbaugh’s “apology” is riddled with offensive statements, comparing contraception to “sneakers” and implying that birth control is only a subsidy for personal sexual activity.
According to a ThinkProgress count, Carbonite is the sixth company to drop Limbaugh in the last couple of days. We will continue to keep an updated count HERE.
