Ok. Mental note not to go there.

I could use a vacation. I need to make an appointment with the tanning salon!

I was just thinking about this whole Arizona bullshit and it occurs to me that a lot of people (not on here particularly but in the wider discussion) keep saying that immigrants are required by law to carry their papers. Fair enough. But what if you're not an immigrant but a citizen who happens to have brown skin? Should you carry papers just to be safe? And why the hell should you, more than any other citizen? This is bugging me.

And in this case, they didn't even believe his papers.

It bugs me too because they shouldn't. But if they don't & get stopped, what then? Are they taken into custody? Threatened with "deportation"? Considered an enemy of the state? Denied Miranda? See this is that "slippery slope" we hear about. This bill is a bad idea & has to potential to do more harm than illegal immigration ever could.

It reminds me of a film starring Cheech Marin years ago. I think it was called something like Born in East LA and he's some guy who gets caught up in an illegal immigrant sweep and is deported to Mexico, even though he's American-born. Seemed somewhat funny at the time. Not so much anymore.

I remember that! At the time it was funny. Not now. Who would have ever thought?
